Am believing that I will win the lottery Powerball I know some are against this but do believe that I am going to win it

We join together with you in prayer and we want to speak truth in love about this request.

We understand the desire for financial breakthrough and the hope that a large sum of money would solve many burdens, but we must lovingly rebuke and correct the idea that believing you will win the Powerball is biblical faith. Faith is not presuming upon God to grant a gambling win, and the lottery is not God's ordained way to provide for His children. Scripture warns us about the love of money and the desire to get rich quickly.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows, 1 Tim 6:10. We are told to be content with what we have, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you, Heb 13:5. Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by labor will increase, Prov 13:11. He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much, Luke 16:10, and this calls us to wise stewardship, diligent work, and trust, not to casting lots or coveting sudden wealth. Jesus warned, Beware Beware of covetousness, for a man's life doesn't consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses, Luke 12:15.

God does want to provide for you, but His provision comes as we seek Him first and walk in obedience and contentment. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, Matt 6:33. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:19. Godliness with contentment is great gain, 1 Tim 6:6. We are concerned that placing hope in the lottery shifts trust from the Provider to a game of chance, and it can lead to waste of resources God has entrusted to you for your family, for giving, and for His work.

We also noticed your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently but firmly remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Rom 10:9. True hope and security are not found in winning the lottery, but in knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior, forgiven of sin and made new.

So we pray together for you in Jesus' name. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the financial pressures and desires of their heart. We ask that You forgive where there has been covetousness or misplaced trust, and that You renew their mind to seek Your will above all. Give them contentment, wisdom, and diligence to steward what they have well, to work faithfully, and to trust You as Jehovah Jireh, their Provider. Deliver them from the love of money and from the snare of gambling, and set their hope fully on Christ. If it is Your will, provide for their needs abundantly according to Your riches, but above all do what will draw them closer to You and make them more like Jesus. Reveal Jesus to them as Savior, that they may believe on Him and be saved, and teach them to seek first Your Kingdom. We ask this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We encourage you to bring your financial needs honestly to the Lord, to commit to faithful work, budgeting, generosity, and saving as God enables, and to find your joy and security in Christ rather than in chance.

Your hope concerning the Powerball has been brought before us, and we have carried it to the Lord not as you have phrased it, but as love for your soul requires.

We would speak to you faithfully concerning contentment and stewardship, for these are the matters your request touches. Contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated. Remember that a man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions. Alexander, with all the world at his feet, cries for another world to conquer, to show that no enlargement of estate can quiet a restless heart. To set the heart upon a sudden fortune by chance is to look for water in a broken cistern, while the fountain of living water stands open in Christ.

Scripture teaches us also that nothing is our own, it is all our Master's. We are stewards, and it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful. We can very much injure our stewardship by idling, or trifling, or growing careless, or leaving our hearts out of our work. To cast our hope upon the turning of a lottery is to trifle with that stewardship, for it seeks increase without labour, and presumes upon Providence instead of trusting it. His faith who truly believes is predestinarian in the best sense, having as much peaceful contentment in his breast while tribulation lasts as when it has closed, because he rests in the hand of a faithful God and not in the fall of numbered balls.

We shall soon be giving in the account of our stewardship, whether the Lord comes to us or we go home to Him, and in that day He will not ask how eagerly we wished for riches, but how faithfully we used what He had already entrusted to us.

We therefore cannot ask God to grant you the winning of the lottery, nor can we affirm that such an expectation is the voice of faith. Faith looks to Christ alone for salvation and to the Father's wise providence for daily bread. What we do beseech you to do, in your humble sphere, is to cultivate contentment. Be not idle. Seek, if you can, by superior skill, steady perseverance, and temperate thriftiness, to raise your position, and do all as unto the Lord, that your labour may honour your Master.

Our prayer for you is this, that the Lord would give you a contented heart in Christ, who is true riches, that He would provide for your needs according to His wisdom, that He would grant you diligence in honest labour and wisdom as a steward of all He has placed in your hands, and that He would fix your hope not upon uncertain riches but upon the certain promises of the gospel. May He teach you to say with the apostle, I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content, and to look for your inheritance which fadeth not away.

We will continue to pray that you may know that contentment and faithful stewardship which bring peace now and a good account hereafter.

Your request has been heard and I am thankful you shared what is on your heart. I understand the hope for provision and for a change in circumstances that is behind this desire to win the lottery.

Scripture gives us clear wisdom for desires like this. It teaches that godliness with contentment is great gain, and it calls us to choose contentedness instead of covetousness. We brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out, and so we are taught to be content with what God has provided, and to hold whatever we have loosely, as though we possessed it not, and to use this world without abusing it. Setting our hope on uncertain riches or on a game of chance can easily lead the heart away from trust in God and toward an endless desire for more.

This does not mean God does not care about your needs. He does, and He calls you to bring your needs to Him, to work faithfully with what He has placed in your hands, and to trust Him for daily provision. True gain is not found in a sudden fortune, but in knowing Christ, walking in godliness, and learning contentment in whatever situation He allows.

I will pray for you, not for winnings, but that God will give you contentment and peace, wisdom in stewardship, provision for your real needs, and a deeper trust in His goodness and His will for your life. May He guard your heart from covetousness and help you find joy and security in Him rather than in wealth, and may He guide you to use what you have for His glory and for the good of others.

I appreciate you sharing this hope so openly and honestly. I hear the desire behind it for security and a change in circumstances, and I want to point you toward what Scripture says is the deeper and lasting answer to that desire.

The Bible teaches that real contentment is not found in our circumstances but in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Circumstances change, finances rise and fall, but Christ does not change. That is why the apostle Paul could say he had learned to be content in whatever state he was in. Contentment is something we learn as we keep our hearts set on Jesus rather than on what we may gain or lose.

Scripture says godliness with contentment is great gain, true riches. Other kinds of riches cannot be trusted. They can be gained quickly and lost even more quickly, and they never truly satisfy. If riches do increase, we are told not to set our hearts on them, but to keep our hearts set on God. We brought nothing into this world and we can carry nothing out, so the lasting treasure is not what we hold in our hands but what we have in Christ, peace, joy, hope and love that comes from knowing Him.

It is also important to look honestly at what motivates our hopes. There are two great motivators in life, love and greed. Apart from Christ, the heart is often driven by wanting more for itself, by getting. That desire for more is never filled. If we follow it, we find it only grows. In Christ we are taught to put off that old way of life and to be motivated by love, which looks to give rather than to get. Many of the troubles in the world and in our own hearts can be traced back to that greedy desire for more, and God wants to free us from it.

God also teaches us that everything we have belongs to Him and we are stewards of what He entrusts to us. One day we will give an account for how we managed what He placed in our hands. That means the question God cares most about is not how much we have, but how faithfully we steward what we do have for His purposes, with wisdom and gratitude.

The promise He gives for our daily needs is very simple and very sure. Having food and clothing, we can be content with such things as we have, because He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. What more do we ultimately need than His faithful presence with us.

So rather than setting your hope on winning the lottery, which is uncertain and cannot give lasting satisfaction, I would encourage you to place your hope fully on Jesus. Seek to grow in godliness and to learn contentment in Him day by day, trusting Him for your daily provision and asking Him to help you steward well whatever He has already provided.

My prayer for you is not that God would grant a lottery win, but that He would fill you with His peace and contentment, that He would deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ where true riches are found, that He would guard your heart from greed and from trusting in uncertain riches, and that He would give you wisdom to manage faithfully what He has entrusted to you and to know His nearness, since He has promised never to leave you nor forsake you. May you find your satisfaction in Him and learn, in whatever condition you are in, to be content in His love and care.
