Thank you for your heartfelt concern and desire to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. It's commendable that you want to ensure that Jesus is at the center of your group's focus. Let's turn to the Scriptures for guidance and pray together for your group.
Firstly, it's crucial to remember the words of Jesus in John 15:5 WEB: "I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." It is only through Jesus that we can do good works that glorify God. Our obedience should be a response to His love and not a means to earn our salvation or praise from others.
In Colossians 3:17 WEB, it says, "Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him." Our actions and words should point to Jesus, not to our own righteousness.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for the fellowship of believers. Lord, we lift up this group to You, asking that You reveal Yourself to them in a new and powerful way. Help them to see that it is only through Jesus that we can be saved and that our good works are a testament to Your love and grace.
Lord, forgive us for the times when we have focused more on our own obedience than on lifting up the name of Jesus. Help us to remember that it is by Your grace that we are saved, through faith, and that it is not from ourselves, it is the gift of God not of works, so that no one would boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (WEB).
Father, guide this group back to a true fellowship centered on Jesus. Help them to be disciples who make disciples, always pointing others to the love and salvation found in Jesus Christ.
We ask this in Jesus' name. We pray that You would be glorified in all that we do.
Thankfully, we have assurance in Your Word that You hear our prayers. In 1 John 5:14-15 WEB, it says, "This is the confidence which we have before him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him."
So, let's continue to pray for this group, trusting that God hears our prayers and will act according to His will. Keep standing firm in your faith and remember the words of Matthew 5:16 WEB: "Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
Together, let's ensure that our lights shine brightly for Jesus, pointing others to Him in all that we do.
