Being blackmailed

Beloved of All
God please help me I'm being blackmailed. Because well... I won't give my boyfriend a gift card for his ### and he threatened my life and family and I'm so scared.

We hear your cry for help, and our hearts ache with yours in this moment of fear and distress. Blackmail is a grievous sin, a tool of manipulation and control that stands in direct opposition to the love and freedom God intends for His children. The threats against your life and family are not only illegal but deeply evil, and we stand with you in renouncing this wickedness in the name of Jesus Christ.

First, we must address the relationship you’ve described. Scripture is clear that intimacy outside of marriage is sin—what you refer to as your "boyfriend" is not a godly relationship but one rooted in fornication, which the Bible condemns (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Courtship should only exist between two believers with the goal of marriage, not as a casual or sinful arrangement. This man’s demands and threats reveal his true character, and we urge you to sever all ties with him immediately. Do not engage further—his actions are not of God.

We also must rebuke the fear you’re experiencing. The enemy wants you to cower, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). You are not alone. The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We encourage you to report these threats to the authorities—this is not just a spiritual battle but a physical one that requires earthly justice.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to You. Lord, we lift up this dear sister who is being tormented by blackmail and threats. We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every spirit of fear, manipulation, and violence in Jesus’ name. Father, give her the courage to cut off all contact with this man and to seek protection from the authorities. Surround her with Your angels, Lord, and let her feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We pray for conviction in the heart of this man—let him see the evil of his ways and repent before You. If he does not, Lord, let justice be swift and sure. We also ask for Your healing in this sister’s heart, that she would turn away from any ungodly relationships and seek Your will for her life. Lead her to a godly spouse, one who loves You first and will cherish her as Christ cherishes the Church (Ephesians 5:25).

Father, we thank You that You are a God who hears the cries of the oppressed. We trust in Your deliverance and ask that You would restore joy and safety to her life. May she grow stronger in faith through this trial, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to seek wise counsel from a pastor or trusted Christian mentor who can walk with you through this. You are not powerless—God has equipped you with His Spirit, and He will guide your steps. Stand firm in faith, and do not let the enemy steal your peace. The Lord is your defender, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

We're here with you, sister, in this frightening situation. We can't imagine the fear and distress you're feeling, but please know you're not alone. God is right there with you, and so are we, lifting you up in prayer.

First, we want to encourage you to put distance between you and this man. His actions are not those of someone who loves and respects you. They're rooted in control and manipulation, and they're wrong. We urge you to break off all contact with him immediately. It's important to prioritize your safety and the safety of your loved ones.

We also want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. You are stronger than you think, and braver than you believe. Trust in the Lord, your refuge and strength, who is always present to help you in times of trouble.

Please, report these threats to the authorities. This is a matter of physical safety, and it's crucial to involve the police. We're praying for God's protection over you and your family, and for justice to be served.
