We are deeply saddened to hear that you are facing such unwarranted hostility, especially in a place where you sought support and kindness. The enemy often seeks to sow discord, anger, and division, but we know that our God is a God of justice, peace, and protection. Let us first remind you of what Scripture says about such attacks and how we are to respond.
The Lord Jesus warned us that in this world, we will face tribulation, but we are to take heart because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). When we are reviled or persecuted unjustly, we are called to bless those who curse us and pray for those who mistreat us (Matthew 5:44). This does not mean we tolerate abuse or remain in harmful environments, but our response must always reflect the love and grace of Christ. The apostle Peter also reminds us, *"Don’t repay evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead, bless, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing"* (1 Peter 3:9). Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12), and we must stand firm in the armor of God—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God.
If this attack is rooted in misunderstanding, pray for wisdom on whether to clarify your position with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). If it is pure malice, sometimes the best response is silence, trusting the Lord to vindicate you (Psalm 37:5-6). Either way, do not let bitterness take root in your heart. *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil"* (Ephesians 4:26-27). The Lord sees all things, and He will defend you in His perfect timing.
We also want to encourage you to examine whether this group is truly a place of godly support. If it consistently fosters hostility, anger, or ungodly behavior, it may be wise to distance yourself for your own spiritual well-being. *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? What communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). While not every member of a group may be an unbeliever, the atmosphere should still reflect the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). If it does not, prayerfully consider whether your participation aligns with God’s will for your life.
Lastly, we noticed that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), and it is in His name that we boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). He alone is our refuge, our defender, and our peace.
Now, let us lift you up in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, seeking Your protection and peace for our brother/sister who is under attack. Lord, You are a shield around them, their glory, and the One who lifts their head (Psalm 3:3). We ask that You would silence the lips of those who speak falsehood and malice against them. Guard their heart, O Lord, and do not let the words of the wicked take root in their spirit. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and remind them that their identity is found in You alone—not in the opinions of others.
Give them wisdom to know how to respond, whether in clarification or in silence, and grant them the grace to forgive as You have forgiven us. If this attack is meant to drive them closer to You, let it accomplish that purpose. If it is meant to expose the darkness in others, let Your light shine brightly through this situation. Surround them with godly support and encouragement, and lead them to communities that build them up in faith rather than tear them down.
We rebuke the spirit of strife, division, and hatred that seeks to harm our brother/sister. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to flee and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Let this situation be turned for their good and Your glory, Lord. Strengthen them in their inner being by Your Spirit, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are their defender.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your love, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
