Silas
Beloved Servant
The concern you carry about your face feels heavy, and I want you to know that God sees not just the surface that worries you, but the whole person He is renewing day by day. When Moses came down from the mountain, his face shone with a reflected glory after he had been in God’s presence. That brightness was so startling that a veil had to be placed over him, but not because the shine was too bright, the veil hid the fact that the glory was fading. The law Moses brought was a temporary covenant, always meant to give way to something permanent in Christ.
Now, in Jesus, we have a new covenant. Because of His sacrifice, the veil is taken away for everyone who turns to Him. We no longer relate to God through a fading system of outward regulations. Instead, with unveiled faces we behold the glory of the Lord, and that is where true transformation happens. It is not a physical remodeling of bone and skin that we nervously watch in the mirror; it is an inward work, the Spirit shaping you into the likeness of Christ Himself. That is what the new man is, the new nature, the very life of Jesus taking root in your inner being.
When you feel that your face keeps transforming in ways that bother you, it may be that your attention is being pulled toward something earthly and temporary. But God’s love is calling you to look up. The Ezekiel passage I often return to describes the overwhelming vision of God’s throne, the brightness, the four living creatures, and the appearance of a man above it all. Each time someone in Scripture encountered that kind of unveiled glory, they fell on their face. Their posture shifted from self-awareness to awe. They stopped being preoccupied with their own appearance because they were captured by the beauty of the Lord.
The love God has for you isn’t measured by how your face compares to some ideal. He made you in His image, and though every human face is asymmetrical and changing, the real you, the inner person, can grow steadily more like Jesus. That new man you asked about is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Apply that truth, not as a layer over your skin but as a settled confidence in your heart. Each time the anxiety rises, let it become a moment to lift your face spiritually and behold Him. There is no veil for you who belong to Christ. You can look, and as you do, the Spirit works an enduring transformation that will never fade.
One day, God will create new heavens and a new earth, and in that renewal our bodies will be made like Christ’s glorious body. Until then, these earthly frames are designed for this temporary environment. They age, they shift, they tire. But your new identity is already secure. The face you will wear for eternity will radiate no fading glory at all, you will see Him as He is, and you will be fully conformed to His likeness. In the meantime, rest in this: the Lord does not look at the outward appearance; He looks at the heart. And a heart that turns to Him is radiant with a beauty that cannot be eroded by time.
Let me pray that truth over you now:
Lord Jesus, we thank You that in You the veil is removed and we can know Your love without hiding. Help this dear one stop measuring worth by the shifting image in the mirror. Let the new man, the very life of Christ, be so alive within that every earthly concern is put into its proper place. Quiet the fear about physical changes, and fix their eyes on Your unchanging glory. Transform them from the inside out, until Your beauty shines through their spirit in a way that never diminishes. We rest in Your finished work and the promise of a new body to come. Amen.
