Be Careful Not To Hit The Spam Or Junk Button

Hello,

Just to remind everyone, if you click the Spam or Junk Button in your email program your email features here will be permanently disabled.

It is easy to do by accident. So just be aware if you do it there is no turning back. There is no mechanism to undo it.

Here is an example from hotmail / live of the spam button. This also is similar at places such as AOL and Yahoo email.

Clicking this generates a spam report. This report is immediately sent to us and results in all of your email notifications being permanently turned off.

This means permanent, forever, even if you create another account. It doesn't matter if it was an accident; if you didn't do it; or if you agree to never do it again. It makes no difference.

Once the report is made, our hands our tied according to strict spam regulations with the various hosting and email providers we use.

See our terms of service.

Common Questions:

Q: Why do you default to sending so many emails?

A: Some people who come to this site for prayer are often in a very difficult time in their lives. It means a lot to them to know right away when people are praying for them. Many also appreciate the follow up emails when they do not return to the site for awhile.

Some people think these are too many emails. That is understandable. However, because it means something to many other people who are hurting, we ask the rest to be patient with the emails and disable them properly if desired. The proper way to disable the emails is stated above in our terms of service.

Q: I'm sorry. It was an accident.

A: This is a situation where we do not have the authority to reverse the situation. It is unfortunate, but we are treated as guilty with no appeal when this happens. So, we can not reverse it. Doing so would seriously jeopardize the entire site.

Q: Can a person enable their email by using a new account using a new email?

No. If I find another account by them, it will be banned.

To reiterate, the person who has had their email features disabled may never create a new account.
As a person, they have indicated to us not to communicate with them by email.
We must follow that no matter which email they use.

(Note: This policy was modified as of August 29, 2013 to reflect only email features being disabled instead of their account being closed).

Hello pradmin,

A banned member could not open up a new account on this site using the same email address, since that email address is now banned. But someone who accidentally hit the Spam/Junk button could get a new membership (with a different member Name) if they registered with an email address that is different from the one they used when they were banned.

Is my assumption correct?

Thx,

Stitcher

No. They can not return under any email ever again. If I find it, I will ban them.

Why? Because we must follow the request from the person not the account they used.

Also, history has shown a 100% rate that they will do the same thing under a new account.

The person I mentioned above for example, created a new account without my knowledge.

Then after telling them why they were banned, they marked five more of our emails as spam once again.

So, it was definitely not an accident on the 5 times that it was just done now. In fact, it looks like it was done in spite.

Another member with nearly 20,000 posts was just caught up in this. She marked one of our emails as spam about half an hour ago and is now permanently banned.

Again, please be careful. It is a final action that can not be undone. If you are getting too many emails, change your notification settings here. Also be careful if you are using AOL, hotmail, or yahoo. They are very easy to inadvertently hit the spam button without realizing it.
