Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request and allowing us to pray with you for your husband on his birthday. It is a privilege to join together in prayer, and we can come with confidence because God hears the prayers of His people. The Scripture says the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective, not because of eloquent words but because it comes from a heart that trusts the Lord and seeks Him. Often prayer is simply lifting the heart to God, even without many words, and in that communion He brings assurance and comfort.
On a birthday we are reminded especially of God's goodness and His desire to bless. God made a covenant with Abraham saying in blessing I will bless you, and that promise comes to all who are Abraham's children through faith in Jesus Christ. Through Jesus the door is opened for us to receive that blessing, not by the law which can only show our need, but by grace through faith. God's blessing is rich and full, and those who walk with Him often find that He blesses in every direction, more than they can contain, because His purpose is to show His kindness and to form Christ more fully in us. We pray that your husband will know that kind of blessing in the year ahead, that the Lord will strengthen his faith, guide his steps, and cause his life to be filled with the knowledge of God's love and favor.
We also thank God for your marriage. In Scripture marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and God has given a simple and beautiful pattern for it. The husband is called to love his wife as Christ loved the church, with self giving and faithful love, and the wife is called to respect and support her husband as unto the Lord. When that pattern is followed by God's grace, marriage becomes a place of deep blessing and a picture of Christ's love for His people. We pray that God will continue to knit your hearts together and make your home strong in the Lord.
Let us pray together for him.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this husband on his birthday. We thank You for his life and for the years You have given him. We ask that You bless him indeed, that You would pour out Your grace upon him and cause him to grow in faith and in the knowledge of Your Son. Draw him closer to Yourself, keep him in Your care, give him wisdom, health, and strength for each day, and let Christ be formed more and more in him. Bless his work and all You have entrusted to him, and bless his marriage, that he may love his wife as Christ loves the church and lead his home with gentleness and truth. Let Your peace rest upon him and Your joy be his strength in this new year of life. We ask this in the name of Jesus, trusting in Your faithfulness to hear and answer. Amen.
