Battling Business Signs

Battling Business Signs 28 Jul 2026 Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. - Proverbs 3:13-15 Devotional: Three men owned shops in the same building. Times were tough, so the owner of the shop at one end of the building put a sign above his front entrance that said Year-End Clearance! The owner of the shop at the other end of the building responded with: Annual Closeout! The owner of the middle store, after careful consideration, hung a sign over his front door. It said, Main Entrance. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; but He asks you to be the main entrance to point others to Him Prayer: Heavenly Father, use me to lead others to Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We are deeply encouraged by your devotional reflection and the wisdom shared from Proverbs 3:13-15, reminding us that true gain comes not from worldly success but from the treasure of godly wisdom. The parable of the three shop owners beautifully illustrates how we, as believers, are called to be a "main entrance" to Christ in a world often distracted by temporary solutions and empty promises. Your prayer to be used by God to lead others to Him is a powerful declaration of faith, and we stand with you in this mission.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the wisdom You freely give to those who seek it. Lord, just as the middle shop owner chose to point others to the true entrance, Your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray that You would use each of us as beacons of Your light in our spheres of influence. May our lives, words, and actions reflect the truth of the Gospel, drawing others to the hope found only in You. Father, we ask for boldness to proclaim Your name, even when the world pressures us to conform to its ways. Give us discernment to recognize opportunities to share Your love and grace, and the courage to step forward in faith. Let our businesses, workplaces, and daily interactions be marked by integrity, humility, and a relentless focus on Your kingdom. We rebuke the spirit of competition, envy, and worldly ambition that seeks to distract us from our higher calling. Instead, fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may walk in wisdom and point others to the "Main Entrance", Jesus Christ, the way, the truth, and the life. In His precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

We are reminded that our ultimate purpose is not to build our own kingdoms but to advance God’s kingdom. The world often measures success by profits, popularity, or power, but Scripture calls us to a different standard. Jesus Himself said, "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:36). As believers, we are called to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16), preserving what is good and illuminating the path to Christ. This means our businesses, careers, and daily lives should reflect His character, honesty, generosity, and a commitment to justice.

If you are facing challenges in your business or workplace, remember that God is your provider. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Trust in Him, seek His wisdom, and let your actions be a testimony to His faithfulness. The world may chase after temporary gains, but we are called to store up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21). Let your "sign" be one that points others to Christ, for He alone is the source of eternal life and true fulfillment.

We also encourage you to surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you and hold you accountable. Proverbs 27:17 tells us, "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." Together, we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), ensuring that our lives and work remain aligned with God’s purposes. If you are feeling isolated or overwhelmed, reach out to your local church or a trusted Christian community. You do not have to walk this path alone.

Finally, we want to emphasize the importance of keeping Christ at the center of all you do. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we invite you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the first and most important step in living a life that points others to Him. If you have already made this decision, continue to grow in your relationship with Him through prayer, reading His Word, and fellowship with other believers. Let your life be a living testament to His grace and truth.

Thank you for sharing that devotional and prayer. It’s such a simple, memorable picture, three shop signs, but the one in the middle just reads “Main Entrance.” That’s what we get to be: ordinary people through whom others can meet Jesus. We don’t need a seminary degree or a slick program; we’re just introducers. And often the most powerful introductions happen in the everyday moments at work, with the people God has already put in our path.

One thing we’ve found helpful is to start the day by quietly naming a few of the people we expect to see, coworkers, customers, even that difficult vendor, and asking God to give us a genuine love for them and an opportunity to be a small point of connection. Not a pressured sales pitch, but a steady kindness, an honest word, a willingness to listen. That’s how a business becomes more than just transactions.

We’re praying that you’ll sense God’s pleasure as you show up as that “main entrance,” and that He’ll open natural doors for you to point people toward the One who can truly change everything.

Lord, thank You that You’ve placed us where we are for such a purpose. Give us alert, humble hearts and simple courage in our daily work. Help us to be faithful introducers, reflecting Your grace in the ordinary, so that others might step toward You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Christ speaks of it thus, "Come to Me that you might have life." The way to be saved is to come to Christ! If you want to be saved, you must come to Christ. There is no other way of salvation under Heaven but coming to Christ. All comings to baptism, comings to confirmation, comings to sacrament are all null and void unless we come to Jesus Christ. To Christ we are to be, always coming; upon him always relying, to his precious blood always looking.

What is it to come to Christ? It is to leave everything else, to leave every other hope, every other trust. It is to trust Him, to obey Him, to yield yourself to Him, to love Him! That is all of it, yet how long it takes men to find it out!

Let the purpose of God be plenteously fulfilled in you, and let it be seen that He has chosen you to know Christ that you may make Him known to others! Believers are to speak for God to the people. Be not ashamed even to be beaten for Christ, the stripes are stripes of glory! As many of the boldest testimonies to Christ have come from a cross, so your shop counter may become a place of witness.

Every man ought to be ashamed of not loving the Lord Jesus Christ and not trusting such a Saviour. Nothing but coming to Christ ever did give any peace. And men ought always to pray, and not to faint. Your prayer to be used as a main entrance is good; but first come to Him yourself without ceasing, and then He shall make you an entrance for many.

You have prayed to be used to lead others to Christ, and this prayer itself is cause for thanksgiving, for the Apostle commands us to make our requests known with gratefulness, and he himself always began by giving thanks to God. So give thanks for this holy desire, since it is by His grace that you seek to point souls to the true entrance. The sign you describe is a shrewd one: the shops on either side proclaimed their own wares, but the middle door declared itself the main entrance to something greater. So it is with you. You are not the treasure; you are the passageway to Christ, who is the door.

Think of John the Baptist. He stood and said nothing of himself, but only, “Behold the Lamb of God.” He did not clutch the souls he had prepared, nor did he mourn when they left him. He was content to be the friend of the Bridegroom, putting the bride’s hand into Christ’s, and then he rejoiced to hear the Bridegroom’s voice. So you too, when you direct others to the Savior, must not seek to hold them to yourself or to your own wisdom. Let them depart from you and cling to Him. And when they do, do not envy but rejoice with all your heart, for by rejoicing with those who labor and bring forth fruit, you become a sharer of their crown. This is charity: to applaud the work of God in others, knowing that all true profit comes from Him.

Do not be surprised if this work brings affliction or if you feel small in the task. Even the Lord of glory was made perfect through sufferings, and if God honored His Son by leading Him through trials, then affliction is not a sign of being forsaken but of being conformed to Him. In your own small way, you are being perfected for this very purpose: to stand as a plain, clear sign that reads “Main Entrance.” Not painted with eloquence or human cleverness, but with a life sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be a saint. For it is by the loving-kindness of God, not by your own merit, that you have been set apart to call upon His name and to lead others to do the same.

Let your entire life be that sign: in your daily business, in the trouble of the marketplace, in the quiet of your home. When men see your good works, let them not praise your shop, but let them inquire after the House to which it leads. Speak the name of Jesus Christ often, as the Apostle did in every line of his letters, until that name becomes for those around you the main entrance to salvation. This is the wisdom more precious than silver or jewels: to count all other gain as loss for the excellency of pointing souls to Christ.

Therefore, be not discouraged by the apparent success of those who promise clearance sales of worldly comfort. Their wares will perish. But those who enter life through your faithful witness will be your joy and crown in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Keep your entrance clear, humble, and ever directed toward Him. And may the God who called you into the fellowship of His Son confirm you unreprovable until that day, by the grace and loving-kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom and with whom, to the Father and the Holy Spirit, be glory now and ever. Amen.

That image of the three shops stays with you for good reason. Two owners frantically changed their signs, each trying to outdo the other with a better pitch. The third man didn’t compete at all. He simply held up what was already true: his door was the way through. That little scene cuts right to the heart of what Jesus does in us and through us. He declared plainly, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” He is the only entrance. Yet, in a real and wonderful sense, He chooses to make His people the sign above it.

You have asked to be used to lead others to Christ, and that prayer is already being answered as you focus on what He has done rather than on what you can manufacture. The grace given to you is according to the measure of Christ’s own gift, not according to your cleverness. The purpose of that grace is to build you up in Him until your very life becomes a natural, undeniable witness to the world around you. When the body is healthy and growing in a true understanding of the gospel, evangelism isn’t a frantic sales pitch. It becomes the quiet, confident, joyful byproduct of people who know exactly who holds the door open.

This means your hope must rest entirely on Jesus Christ and nothing else. The moment you add anything to that, even the smallest “and,” trouble enters. You cannot improve on the complete righteousness that is already yours by faith. The law was a schoolmaster meant to show us how far we fall short and drive us to the only One who can save. Once you have laid hold of Christ by faith, you are no longer trying to be righteous; you are righteous because you are hidden in Him. That certainty brings a deep rest, and it’s from that rest that an active, living faith begins to move your hands and feet. Genuine faith does not sit still. It works, not to earn what has already been given, but as the proof that it is alive. The two cannot be separated: faith moves you to action, and action shows your faith to be genuine.

The world around you is filled with competing voices and strident signs, and some of them may even mention Jesus from motives you cannot judge. Some preach Christ out of goodwill, and others out of envy or contention. The question is not the perfection of the messenger; the question is whether Christ is being proclaimed. Paul rejoiced even when the motives were mixed, because the pure gospel was getting through. Your calling is to make sure that what points to you is simply Jesus Christ and Him crucified. When someone asks about your eternal hope, your answer remains beautifully simple: your faith is in Jesus Christ. A life built on that confession does not need to shout over the noise. It stands with peace in the middle of the chaos, simply displaying what is true. The Spirit Himself bears witness within you that this is the truth, freeing you to love and serve without the exhausting need to prove yourself.

Keep reckoning that old self, the one that needs to be noticed and validated, as dead and buried with Christ. When the temptation arises to turn the Christian life into a performance or a comparison with others, you can, by faith, choose to remember that you have already died to that. Your life is hidden safely with Christ in God. The more you know Him, the more natural it becomes to trust Him in this. And a person who is truly trusting, who knows that nothing we desire can compare with the wisdom found in Christ, becomes a quiet, steady main entrance for others. You do not need a flashier sign. You simply need to remain where you are, abiding in the true Vine, and God will faithfully bring people through.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer as you seek God’s wisdom and guidance in your business. Your post reminded us of the truth in Proverbs—that wisdom and understanding are more valuable than silver or gold, and we have lifted you up, asking the Lord to grant you discernment in every decision.

We rejoiced in the devotional you shared, reflecting on how the middle shop owner chose to point others to Christ rather than compete in worldly ways. What a powerful reminder that our lives and businesses can serve as a testimony to His grace. We have prayed that the Lord would use you in the same way—to be a light in your industry, drawing others to Him through your words, actions, and the way you conduct your business.

If God has already answered this prayer in ways you’ve seen or felt, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If you’re still waiting on His timing and direction, please share this request again so we can continue to intercede on your behalf. Either way, we are standing in agreement with you, trusting that the Lord is working even when we cannot yet see it.

May He bless you abundantly as you seek Him, lean on His understanding, and allow Him to lead you in every step. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
