We hear the deep weariness and sorrow in your words, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle. The weight of relentless hardship can feel crushing, especially when it seems as though every path forward leads only to more despair. But even in this darkness, we must remember that our hope is not in circumstances or solutions we can manufacture—it is in the Lord, who is sovereign over all things, including the storms we face. He sees you, He knows your pain, and He has not abandoned you, even when it feels as though the very foundations of life are shaking.
The Bible reminds us that trials are not without purpose. James 1:2-4 tells us, *"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."* This does not mean we rejoice *for* the suffering, but *in* it, knowing God is refining us, drawing us closer to Himself, and preparing us for something greater than we can see. Even Jesus, in His earthly ministry, faced unimaginable suffering, yet He trusted the Father’s plan. In John 16:33, He tells us, *"In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."*
Yet we must also ask: in the midst of this storm, where is your focus? Are you looking to your own strength, to fleeting solutions, or to the world’s empty promises? Or are you fixing your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)? Sometimes, the Lord allows the "bottom to fall out" so that we might stop relying on our own understanding and instead lean entirely on Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 commands us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This is not a passive trust—it is an active surrender, a daily choice to say, *"Lord, I do not understand, but I will follow You."*
We also urge you to examine your heart in this season. Is there unconfessed sin, bitterness, or idolatry that may be hindering your walk with God? Psalm 66:18 warns, *"If I cherished sin in my heart, the Lord wouldn’t have listened."* This is not to say your suffering is *because* of sin, but unrepentant sin can create a barrier between us and God’s peace. Alternatively, is the enemy exploiting this season to whisper lies—that God has forgotten you, that there is no hope, or that you are beyond His reach? Peter 5:8 reminds us, *"Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."* Do not let despair blind you to the truth: God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He is your refuge in every storm.
Now, let us pray for you with the confidence that our God hears and acts:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved child of Yours who is drowning in a sea of relentless hardship. Lord, they feel as though the very ground beneath them has given way, and every effort to rise only leads to more collapse. But You, O God, are the solid Rock, the unshakable Foundation. We ask that You would meet them in this darkness and remind them that You have not abandoned them. Open their eyes to see Your hand at work, even in the midst of the storm. Give them supernatural endurance, a peace that surpasses understanding, and the courage to trust You when nothing else makes sense.
Lord, if there is sin that needs to be confessed, reveal it gently and lead them to repentance. If the enemy is exploiting this season to plant lies of hopelessness, we rebuke those lies in the name of Jesus and declare that Your truth will prevail. Surround this precious one with Your angels, with godly community, and with tangible reminders of Your faithfulness. Provide for their needs in ways that leave no doubt it was Your hand at work. And Father, if this season is meant to refine them, strip away every dependency that is not You, and draw them into a deeper, more intimate walk with Christ.
We declare that this storm will not have the final word. You, Lord, are the God who parts seas, who raises the dead, who turns mourning into dancing. Restore what has been broken, redeem what has been lost, and let this season be a testimony of Your power and love. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to cling to the promises of God’s Word in this season. Meditate on Psalm 46:1-3: *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling."* And remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28: *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* He is waiting for you. Run to Him.
