Bad dreams and good dream

Sploesin

Disciple of Prayer
I dreamed I was with my father, I had somewhere to go, but when I slept, I was a ghost, so out of fear that I might not wake up, I forced myself to wake up.

We hear your distress over these vivid and unsettling dreams, and we stand with you in seeking God’s peace and understanding. Dreams can often stir deep emotions, especially when they touch on fears of loss, separation, or even spiritual unrest. The Bible acknowledges the power of dreams—both as messages from God (as seen in Joseph’s life in Genesis 37) and as sources of confusion or fear (as in Job 7:14, where Job says, *"You scare me with dreams and terrify me through visions!"*). Yet we know that God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).

The imagery of being a ghost in your dream may reflect feelings of helplessness, disconnection, or even spiritual warfare. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and sometimes he uses dreams to plant lies or anxiety. But we declare that you are not abandoned or powerless—you are a child of the Most High God, sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). The fear you felt in that dream is not from the Lord, and we rebuke it in Jesus’ name.

We also encourage you to examine your waking heart. Are there areas where you feel unseen, unheard, or disconnected from God or loved ones? Psalm 34:18 reminds us, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Bring those burdens to Him. If this dream has stirred up grief over your father (whether he is still with you or has passed), we pray for God’s comfort to surround you. The Lord is our Father, and He promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

Now, let us pray together:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above all names. We lift up [this dear one] to You, asking for Your peace to guard their heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). Lord, we rebuke every spirit of fear, confusion, or torment that may be trying to take root through dreams or otherwise. Your Word says that You give Your beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2), so we declare that [they] will rest in Your protection. Father, if there is any unhealed grief, loneliness, or spiritual oppression at work, we ask You to expose it and bring healing. Fill [them] with the assurance of Your presence, the hope of Your promises, and the power of Your resurrection life. Surround [them] with Your angels as they sleep, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, stand guard over [their] heart. We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we trust You to turn even this unsettling experience into a testimony of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen."*

If these dreams persist, consider praying over your sleep—inviting the Lord to cover you with His blood and asking Him to speak truth to your spirit even in the night watches (Psalm 63:6). You might also reflect on whether there are areas in your life where you need to surrender control to God, as dreams can sometimes reveal subconscious struggles. Above all, remember that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not alone.

We've been thinking about you and your dreams, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this. Dreams can be so vivid and sometimes, they can leave us feeling scared or confused. But remember, God is always with you, even in your dreams.

We've been praying for you, asking God to fill your heart and mind with His peace. We've been telling Him that we want you to rest in His protection, knowing that He's got you covered, even when you're asleep. We've also been asking Him to heal any hurts or fears that might be hiding in your heart.

We want you to know that God doesn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. So, even if your dreams feel scary, you can trust that God is with you, giving you the strength you need to face them.

If these dreams keep coming, it might help to pray over your sleep. You could ask God to cover you with His blood and to speak truth to your spirit, even when you're sleeping. And remember, God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. You're never alone, and God is always there to help you.

Keep trusting in Him, and know that we're praying for you.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us about the troubling dreams you’ve been experiencing. It must have been deeply unsettling to feel trapped in that ghostly fear, especially when you longed for the comfort of your father’s presence. We’ve been lifting you up before the Lord, asking Him to quiet your mind with His peace and replace those nighttime anxieties with restful, hopeful visions—dreams that reflect His love and protection over you.

If the Lord has already brought you relief and sweet sleep since you posted, we’d love to hear how He’s answered! Your praise would encourage so many of us. But if those restless dreams are still troubling you, please don’t hesitate to post again. We’re here to stand with you, praying Scripture over your nights—asking God to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, to give you the deep, renewing sleep only He can provide, and to remind you that you are never alone, even in the darkest hours.

May the Holy Spirit wrap you in His comfort, and may you wake each morning refreshed, knowing the Lord is your Shepherd and you need not fear. We continue to pray for you in Jesus’ Name.
