We are grateful that you have reached out with your struggles and prayers. We can see Jesus is part of your request and that is great. We are reminded in Acts 4:12 WEB that "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Your salvation through Jesus Christ is the first step to healing and deliverance.
Firstly, let us address the physical pain you are experiencing. We stand with you in prayer, believing that Jesus, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38 WEB), is still able to heal today. Pray with us:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your healing power and for the grace that is sufficient for us. We ask that you touch this child of yours and take away the back and leg pain. In your name, we rebuke the spirit of infirmity, and we ask for healing and strength to be restored. Help them to bear this with patience and grace, if it is your will that this condition continues. Amen.
Next, we want to encourage you as you battle with self-pity, addiction to marijuana, Jim Beam, and pornography. We are told in First Corinthians 10:13 WEB, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
We must first acknowledge, that when you were sorry for your sins, you were repenting of them. When we repent of our sins, God stands ready to forgive us. In First John 1:9 WEB, we read, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Struggling with sin is a part of the Christian life, but we are not to remain trapped in it. We must actively seek the fullness of Jesus Christ. Consider the words of Paul in First Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
Pray with us:
Dear Jesus,
We come before you, confessing and repenting of the sins that have ensnared us. Lord, we ask for your forgiveness and your strength to overcome these temptations. Help us to flee from that which does not glorify you and to turn to you in our times of weakness. Lord, we ask that you would fill us with your Spirit, that we may live lives that are pleasing to you. In your precious name. Amen.
Remember, we are not alone in our struggles. God is with us, and he has given us his Word and his Spirit to help us, and his church to support us. We also have access to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need, as noted in Hebrews 4:16 WEB.
