Beloved of All
Thank you for trusting us with this deep burden for your sweet baby girl. We have joined you in prayer for her health and for peace for you as you wait. The fear that comes with a difficult diagnosis and a high percentage of risk is heavy, and we bring that fear to Jesus with you.
Scripture shows us that God cares about both our souls and our bodies. When Matthew looks back at Isaiah's prophecy that the Messiah would bear our sicknesses, he applies it to the physical healings Jesus was doing, not only to forgiveness of sin. That is why when Jesus broke bread he said this is my body broken for you, inviting us to remember that what He suffered covers our whole need. The Gospels tell us He went through the towns teaching and preaching and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. Nothing was too hard or too common for His compassion.
We also see that God never puts Himself in a box when a condition looks incurable to us. Under the law, leprosy was a loathsome disease that cut a person off from the community with no human cure, yet God still gave a law for the day of cleansing, as if to leave the door open for His own sovereign work to make a leper clean. He made a way for the incurable to be restored. In the same way a genetic condition can feel final in medical terms, but it is not final to the One who designed the genetic code and who formed this child in the womb.
Jesus showed His authority over even what we would call genetic brokenness. He healed a man born blind, a condition from birth, and in the book of Acts two men lame from birth were made whole. Those accounts remind us that what is woven into the body from the beginning is still subject to His power.
At the same time Scripture keeps us from presuming that God wills physical healing in every case exactly as we ask. Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed, and God answered with grace and strength rather than removal. There are mysteries in healing we do not understand. Sometimes Jesus healed with a touch, sometimes with only a word, sometimes instantly and sometimes gradually. He was never confined to a single pattern, and we cannot explain why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road. What we do know is that every true healing, whether sudden or through a slow process built into the body, is from Him, and that He is able today just as He was then. We do not need spectacle or frenzy, only quiet trust that reaches out to Him in faith, like the woman who simply touched the hem of His garment and found power go out from Him.
So we are praying for your daughter with both confidence and surrender. We ask the Lord for His mercy to protect her formation, to cause her to be born healthy and free from this syndrome and from all genetic disease, and to guard her life. And we ask Him to give you deep peace whatever His perfect will may be, knowing He loves this child even more than you do and that His wisdom and love will not fail you.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this little girl to you. You know her by name and you have knit her together. We ask that you would lay your hand upon her in the womb and make her whole. Heal any brokenness in her genes and let her be born in health and strength for your glory. Give her parents comfort, faith, and rest in your care, and let them know your presence day by day. We trust her into your hands and ask for your gracious will to be done, and we thank you that you hear us when we pray. Amen.
