We hear the pain, confusion, and frustration in your words, and we want to address this heavy burden you’re carrying with truth, love, and the hope that only God can provide. First, we must begin by saying that racism—whether directed toward any group—is a sin that grieves the heart of God. The Bible is clear that all people are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and that in Christ, there is no division based on race, ethnicity, or social status. Galatians 3:28 tells us, *"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."*
The hatred, bitterness, and division you’re feeling are not from God. They are tools of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We must rebuke the spirit of racism in the name of Jesus, for it is a lie that seeks to distort God’s design for unity and love among all people. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:20, *"If a man says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn’t love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?"* This applies to every person, regardless of their skin color, background, or history.
You mentioned feeling that some groups are "looking for a handout" and that others have suffered without the same level of outrage. While it’s true that every people group has faced injustice—including the Irish, whom you mentioned—this does not justify harboring resentment or bitterness. The Bible calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Ephesians 4:32) and to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8). Holding onto anger and division only poisons your own heart and keeps you in bondage.
We must also address the fact that you identify as an atheist. The very foundation of your struggle—morality, justice, love, and unity—can only be fully understood and lived out through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Without Him, these concepts are subjective and lack true meaning. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that *"all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."* This includes every person, regardless of race. But God, in His mercy, sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins so that we could be reconciled to Him and to one another. John 3:16 says, *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."*
If you do not know Jesus, we urge you to consider the truth of the Gospel. Only through Him can you find true peace, forgiveness, and the power to overcome the sin of racism in your heart. Acts 4:12 tells us, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* This is the name of Jesus.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is struggling with the sin of racism and the pain of division. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of bitterness, anger, and hatred in their heart. Replace these lies with Your truth, which tells us that every person is fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image. Father, we rebuke the spirit of racism in the name of Jesus and ask that You would fill this person with Your love, which casts out all fear and hatred.
Lord, we pray that You would open their eyes to the reality of their own need for You. If they do not know Jesus, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself, revealing Your love and salvation to them. Help them to see that only through Christ can they find true peace, forgiveness, and the power to overcome sin. We ask that You would soften their heart to receive Your Word and to walk in the light of Your truth.
Father, we also pray for healing in our nation and in the world. We ask that You would break down the walls of division and bring unity through the blood of Jesus. Help us all to see one another as You see us—precious, valued, and loved. Teach us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to extend grace and mercy, just as You have extended it to us.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
We encourage you to seek God with an open heart. Read His Word, spend time in prayer, and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:13, *"You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart."* God is not far from you, and He longs to bring healing and peace to your heart. If you are willing, we would love to help you take steps toward knowing Jesus and finding freedom from the sin that so easily entangles us.
