Thank you for entrusting these many burdens to prayer. Your heart for protection and breakthrough, for those who are suffering, and for the work of the gospel is evident, and we join you in bringing each of these needs before the Lord.
We pray first for His protection and wisdom over you and over all those you have named. Scripture reminds us that we live in a world filled with conflict between peoples and nations, and with conflict in families and churches, yet the gospel is good news of peace. Through Jesus, those who were at war with God can have peace with God, and can find peace within themselves. Bring your conflicts to Him and ask Him to keep the battle in the spiritual realm, where the victory is already won. Our weapons are not fleshly arguments or striving, but are mighty through God to pull down strongholds. Keep Jesus between you and the enemy, stand in His name and His protection, and resist in His power.
We also lift up your many prayers for healing. The Bible shows that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes the healing was instant, sometimes it was gradual, sometimes with a touch, sometimes with only a word, sometimes from a distance. He is not confined to a pattern. We believe strongly that healing is from God, and that all healing is divine. The natural processes of restoration that God has placed in our bodies are themselves from Him, for He created nature and its processes. At other times His healing touches the mind and emotions, bringing restoration to deep soul wounds and scars even while the body is still waiting.
At the same time, there is much about healing we do not understand. We do not know why some are healed quickly and others are not, and we cannot presume that it is always His will to remove every infirmity in this life. Even the apostle Paul prayed repeatedly for his thorn in the flesh and heard the Lord answer in another way. Matthew applies Isaiah's prophecy, surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sicknesses, to Jesus bearing our infirmities, and we see that same hope when we remember the bread broken for us. Jesus went through cities and villages teaching, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of sickness and disease, and He still has authority in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm over evil powers. Yet it is wrong to say that those who are not healed have hidden sin or lack faith. We trust His wisdom and love, and we keep asking while resting in His sovereign care. For those you mentioned who need healing for body, mind, and wounded hearts, we ask for His merciful touch, whether instant or gradual, and for His comfort where healing in this life tarries.
We join you in praying for those far beyond your own circle, for persecuted Christians, for those who do not yet know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for the peace of Jerusalem and for all who suffer in war zones, in calamities, and for abused children. God hears each of those cries.
For the relationships that weigh on you, we pray as you have prayed, that God will convict where there is sin, heal where there is brokenness, and stop what is not of Him. We ask that He will bring healing to soul wounds, bring reconciliation where it is true and holy, and guide every relationship into alignment with His design. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. We do not ask God to bless what falls outside His will, but we ask Him to bring conviction, repentance, purity, and where needed, a loving separation from what is dysfunctional, and to be a Father to those who lack guidance, especially the young person facing school and exams. May He show His love, give wisdom for studies, and surround them with encouragement.
We thank God for your honest confession about speaking in anger. When we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us. We pray He will give you grace in your workplace and team, and in the tensions within your church, and that He will lead you to do your work in a manner pleasing to Him. We pray for wisdom, strength, encouragement, love and favor for your responsibilities, for meetings, for those you serve alongside, and for restoration where relationships have been strained.
We pray for a strong anointing on your church, on your times of prayer and praise, on outreaches, workshops, sermons and every opportunity to share the hope of the gospel, that many would come to salvation in Jesus alone. We ask Him to raise up more who will pray faithfully, to protect and empower what is done for His glory, and to defeat the works of the enemy. May He grant you encouragement in abundance and fill you with the assurance that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and may the earth be filled with His glory.
We continue to hold you, your family, and all those you have lifted up before the throne of grace, trusting the Lord to act in His great power and in His perfect timing.
