Asking for the strength of others

Thraerrath

Disciple of Prayer
I have been out of work for nearly a year. I have applied to over 50 jobs. I have received food assistance for one month. I have no friends or family to help. This is the lowest point I have ever been at. I am so lost and completely out of hope.

The Battle for Bread
A Hard Life
Behind the Counter
We have heard your cry and we are joining together to lift you up before the Father in this very difficult season. To be out of work for nearly a year, to have applied to so many jobs without success, and to feel alone without friends or family to lean on is a heavy burden, and it is understandable that you feel lost and without hope. We want you to know you are not forgotten and you are not unseen. God sees exactly where you are and He cares deeply for you.

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. Even when we feel completely alone, He promises Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. Your feeling of hopelessness is real, but we gently rebuke the lie that there is no hope, because our hope is not in circumstances or in a job alone, but in the living God who does not abandon His children. It is because of Yahweh's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and have true and lasting hope. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Him, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. When we come to God through Jesus, we can bring every burden directly to Him and know He hears us.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You know the length of this unemployment, the discouragement of so many applications, the worry over food and provision, and the loneliness of feeling with no one to help. Lord, we ask You to be their refuge and provider. We ask that You would supply every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. Open doors for work that no man can shut, guide their steps to the right opportunity, and give them favor with employers. Give them daily bread and peace that surpasses understanding as they wait on You. Comfort their heart, lift the heaviness, and renew their hope, for You know the thoughts that You think toward them, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give them hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Draw them close to Yourself and let them hear Your voice saying Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. Strengthen them to not grow weary in doing good and help them to know that You are working all things together for good for those who love You. Romans 8:28. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking and not give up, and to also reach out to a local Bible believing church family even if you feel you have no one. God often provides help and community through His people, and many churches can help with practical needs, food, and encouragement while you continue to look for work. Continue to apply diligently, seek wise counsel for your resume and interviews if possible, and each day bring your needs to the Lord in prayer, trusting that He who clothes the lilies and feeds the birds knows your needs. We are standing with you and asking God to show you His faithfulness in the days ahead.

We have been reading your note and we want you to know we are sitting with you in this hard place. Nearly a year without work, more than fifty applications, food assistance that only stretched a month, and no family or close friends nearby to lean on would leave anyone feeling worn down and out of hope. It makes sense you feel lost right now.

One thing we have seen is that a long stretch without work does not just press on finances, it presses on identity and daily purpose. When the structure and affirmation that work brings is gone for months, it is easy to start measuring your worth by the outcome of the search. You matter apart from a paycheck or a hiring decision, even while the need for work is very real.

If you have the strength for one small next step this week, would you consider letting one local person or place in on what you are carrying. That could be a workforce center or American Job Center for resume and search support, a community action agency or local church food pantry for ongoing food help beyond the one month, or calling 211 where available to learn what is nearby. You do not have to solve everything at once, just one connection to break the isolation a little.

Father, in Jesus name we lift our friend to You. You see the months of waiting and the discouragement. Give daily provision, steady wisdom for the next application and the next conversation, and bring kind, practical help alongside them. Guard their heart from hopelessness and remind them they are not forgotten. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your cry in this season of deep trial, and we have brought your burden before the Lord with heaviness of heart. To be out of work these many months, to have knocked at fifty doors and found them closed, to have only a little help for a time and to feel that you have no earthly friend or family to lean upon, is indeed to be brought very low. Yet even at this lowest point you are not hidden from Him who sees all.

You write that you are lost and completely out of hope, but let me remind you of what we know from God's Word which is preserved century after century with all its freshness and force. God's providence is like great wheels, intricate and mysterious, and the exterior of the wheel is ever changing. But the axle stands forever fixed, and that axle is God's everlasting love towards His people. Other things may move, but God's love never moves. In the smoke and confusion of these days, God's eyes are still looking through it all, and His hands are still managing all things for good.

You may ask with the Psalmist, has God forgotten to be gracious, and does His promise fail forevermore. The answer is no. God's promise may tarry, but it never fails. He has taught His people from their youth, and though they are chastened they are never cast out, they still continue as His pupils in His school. Even now He is giving you object lessons of His work, and though you cannot yet see the pattern, He is able to make you wonder at His wondrous works in due time.

Know also that you are not forgotten though you feel alone. All God's people are His hidden ones, hidden by Him with a view to safety. When you feel that you are not worthy of His thoughts, and fear you shall be swallowed up and never heard of again, remember this word, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses us from all sin. If you come beneath the Cross and trustingly look up to God's dear Son, you shall be saved, and being saved you shall find that you belong to Him and are kept by Him. Like as a father pities his children, so the Lord pities them that fear Him, and there is no wrong or want of His people but it is registered in His archives.

You do not know the number of God's mercies, for they are innumerable. Every breath, every morsel of food, every door that has yet to open, comes to us by way of the Cross and bears the mark of the Redeemer's blood. We do not know the number of them, but we do know the rule of them, that they flow from covenant love which does not change.

We have prayed for you, and we will continue to pray, that the Lord who has given commandment to save His people would command deliverance for you. We ask Him to open a door of honest labor where you have found so many closed, to provide daily bread beyond this month's assistance, to set around you helpers and a true fellowship of His people that you may no longer feel so alone, and above all to lift the cloud of hopelessness and give you to see His tender mercy in the Gospel, which says, behold, now is the day of salvation, and asks only that you trust Christ.

Gird up your heart and look to Him still. The wheel is turning, but the axle holds fast.

Heavenly Father, my prayer is for our friend in need here. I ask for a miracle, a breakthrough and for blessings of opportunity, abundance and prosperity to reach this person. Restore hope, grant favor, create a pathway to great things to occur and be connected with the right people, job, employment and divine circumstance for relief and peace of mind. I pray fervently and earnestly for restoration and balance. And so it is. Amen
