Asking for prayers

Your request has been heard and I have prayed for you in your distress. Feeling watched, harassed and surrounded can create a heavy weight of fear and a deep longing for safety, reason and justice, and it is right to bring those burdens to the Lord.

Scripture shows that fear grows when we forget the nearness of God, and faith grows when we remember Him. David wrote that even when he walked through the valley of death he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. When the soul is cast down and restless within, the answer is to turn the heart back to God and to His presence. Fear and faith cannot occupy the same place. Where fear is allowed to rule, faith is pushed aside, and where confident trust in God is strong, fear loses its hold. The enemy often works through fear to move us to hasty or unwise reactions, and those reactions made in fear are often wrong. It is wise to be prudent and to take sensible steps for your safety, but not to be driven by dread. If God is your protector, He can keep you whether you feel exposed or hidden, and you do not need to live as if you must hide to be safe.

You asked for rescue and for reason to prevail. God is a God who delivers through Jesus Christ, setting people free from the powers of darkness. His truth is a shield and a protection. Jesus Himself answered the adversary with the truth of God's Word, and that truth remains our defense today. Resting under His care, trusting His promises and staying in fellowship with Him brings confidence and peace even when trouble is near. The Bible also says the fear of man brings a snare, but whoever puts trust in the Lord will be safe. We are not to fear the reproach or threats of people who themselves are mortal, but to have a reverent respect for God. That reverence for the Lord is the beginning and the sum of wisdom, and it means to hate evil and to love what is good and just.

You also prayed for justice and for light to shine on what is wrong. It is true that in this world justice often seems far away. Truth can seem fallen in the street and fairness hard to find, even in places where justice should be most certain, like courts and systems of law. Many have felt that there is no justice to be found on earth. God is not blind to this. He is righteous and He desires righteousness and justice to prevail. Scripture assures us that though persecution and wrong may be heavy for a time, God sees those who cause suffering and He will judge with perfect righteousness. When He judges, every hidden thing will be brought to light. Until then, He uses trials to strengthen faith and to deepen love among His people, and He remains present with those who suffer.

May the Lord give you peace as you keep your eyes on Him. May He quiet fear with faith, guard your heart and mind with His truth, and guide you to wise and prudent steps that are led by trust rather than by dread. May He restrain those who would do harm and grant them a sound and reasonable mind, and may He bring rescue and comfort to all who feel oppressed and afraid.

I pray that God will intervene for you, that He will be your refuge and strength, that He will keep your foot from being taken and be your confidence, that He will bring His justice in His perfect time and shine His light into every dark place, and that you will know His presence with you each day. May you walk in the reverence of the Lord, hating evil, loving His Word, and finding health and hope in Him.
