Asking for prayers for Unrepentant Christians

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have some fellow Christians on my heart (God knows them!!) who are bound in some sins like drinking alcohol and have been hurting me in the last period, and have refused to admit their mistakes. Please pray in Jesus' name that their spiritual eyes will be opened to the truth and that they will be able to understand the truth fully. May their hearts not tolerate sin, and may God change their hearts so that they won't participate in provoking other fellow Christians.....AMEN IN JESUS NAME

We join you in lifting up these fellow believers who have strayed into sin and are causing harm, both to themselves and to others. It is heartbreaking to see brothers and sisters in Christ bound by sin, especially when they refuse to repent and acknowledge their wrongdoing. Yet we know that our God is mighty to save, and His desire is that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. Let us first address the seriousness of their actions, for the Word of God is clear that no one should deceive themselves—if a person claims to be a Christian yet walks in willful, unrepentant sin, they are in grave danger. The Apostle Paul warns us in **1 Corinthians 6:9-10**, *"Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* Drunkenness is explicitly named here as a sin that separates one from the Kingdom if unrepented of. Moreover, **Galatians 5:19-21** reminds us that *"the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom."*

We must also address the harm they have caused you. The Bible commands us in **Matthew 18:15-17** to confront sin within the body of Christ with the goal of restoration: *"If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector."* Have you followed this process? If not, we encourage you to do so in love and humility, for their sake and for the purity of the church. If you have already taken these steps and they remain unrepentant, then you must also guard your own heart. **Proverbs 4:23** tells us, *"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life."* You cannot force them to repent, but you can pray for them, set boundaries to protect yourself from further harm, and trust God to work in their lives.

Now, let us pray earnestly for them, for *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (**2 Peter 3:9**).

---
**Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, lifting up these brothers and sisters who have been ensnared by sin. Lord, You know their names, their struggles, and the depths of their hearts. We ask that You break the chains of alcohol and pride that have bound them. Open their spiritual eyes, Lord, that they may see the truth of their condition and the gravity of their sin. Convict them by Your Holy Spirit, for Your Word tells us that *"when he (the Spirit) has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment"* (**John 16:8**). Father, soften their hearts of stone and give them hearts of flesh that tremble at Your Word. Let them no longer tolerate sin in their lives, but grant them godly sorrow that leads to repentance, *"for godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death"* (**2 Corinthians 7:10**).

Lord, we also pray for our sister who has been wounded by their actions. Comfort her, heal her, and grant her wisdom to know how to respond in a way that honors You. Give her strength to forgive as You have forgiven us, and protect her from bitterness or resentment. Surround her with godly counsel and support, that she may not grow weary in well-doing.

Father, we rebuked the spirit of deception and hardness of heart that has taken hold of these individuals. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command every stronghold of sin to be broken in their lives. Fill them with a hunger and thirst for righteousness, that they may turn from their wicked ways and seek Your face. Remind them that *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (**1 Corinthians 10:13**).

Lord, restore them to fellowship with You and with the body of Christ. Let their repentance be genuine and their transformation evident to all. Use this situation for Your glory, that others may see Your power to save and sanctify. We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good (**Titus 2:14**). Amen.**

---
We urge you to continue standing in the gap for these individuals, but also to release the burden of their choices to the Lord. You have done your part by praying and seeking godly resolution; now trust God to do what only He can do. Keep your own heart right before Him, and remember that *"Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord"* (**Romans 12:19**). Your role is to love, pray, and, if necessary, set boundaries—while leaving the work of conviction and transformation to the Holy Spirit.

If these individuals remain unrepentant, you may need to distance yourself from their influence for your own spiritual well-being. **1 Corinthians 15:33** warns, *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* Stay rooted in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with believers who will uplift and encourage you. God sees your faithfulness, and He will honor it. Keep trusting Him, even when you don’t see immediate change. His timing is perfect, and His ways are higher than ours.

We're right there with you, standing in the gap for these beloved brothers and sisters. It's heart-wrenching to see them bound by sin, especially when they refuse to acknowledge their mistakes. But remember, our God is a God of second chances, and His mercy endures forever. Let's continue to lift them up in prayer, asking for open hearts and genuine repentance.

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You today, interceding for these unrepentant Christians. Lord, You know their names, their struggles, and the depth of their hearts. We ask that You would soften their hearts and open their eyes to the truth of their condition. Convict them by Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and grant them godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Give them a hunger and thirst for righteousness, that they may turn from their wicked ways and seek Your face.

Father, we also pray for our sister who has been hurt by their actions. Comfort her, Lord, and grant her wisdom to know how to respond in a way that honors You. Give her strength to forgive as You have forgiven us, and protect her from bitterness or resentment.

In Jesus' name, we rebuke the spirit of deception and hardness of heart that has taken hold of these individuals. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command every stronghold of sin to be broken in their lives. Fill them with a desire to walk in Your ways, Lord, and restore them to fellowship with You and the body of Christ.

We ask all this in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
