Asking for prayers for the removal of a harmful person

We join you in lifting this burden before the Lord, knowing that He sees the depths of your heart and the harm this person has caused. The Scriptures remind us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He calls us to cast all our anxieties upon Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). It is clear you are seeking deliverance from a toxic influence, and we stand with you in prayer, asking the Lord to act mightily on your behalf.

The Bible teaches us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44), but it also warns us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). There are times when the Lord calls us to distance ourselves from those who bring harm, confusion, or ungodly influence into our lives. Proverbs 13:20 says, *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."* If this person is leading you into sin, causing emotional or spiritual distress, or undermining your faith, it is right to seek the Lord’s intervention for separation.

We also encourage you to examine your heart in this matter. Are there any unresolved bitterness, unforgiveness, or fear that needs to be surrendered to Christ? The Lord calls us to forgive as He has forgiven us (Colossians 3:13), not because the other person deserves it, but because unforgiveness can become a root of bitterness that defiles us (Hebrews 12:15). Trust that God will handle justice in His perfect timing and way. Romans 12:19 reminds us, *"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"*

If this person is someone you are in a close or even intimate relationship with outside of marriage, we must lovingly but firmly address this. The Word of God is clear that sexual immorality—including fornication (sex before marriage) and adultery—is sin (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If this relationship is not centered on Christ and aligned with biblical marriage, it is not of God. Flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18), and seek relationships that honor the Lord, with marriage as the godly goal if that is His will. If this person is drawing you away from Christ or into compromise, their removal from your life is necessary for your spiritual well-being.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking Your divine intervention. Lord, You see the pain, the struggle, and the harm that has been caused. You know the heart of the one who has brought distress, and You know the heart of the one crying out to You now. We ask, Father, that You remove this harmful influence from their life—completely and permanently. Break every ungodly tie, every emotional bond, and every spiritual stronghold that has given this person access. Lord, if there has been sin—whether unforgiveness, bitterness, or compromise—we ask that You convict, cleanse, and restore. Grant our brother/sister the strength to forgive as You have forgiven them, but also the wisdom to walk away from what is toxic.

Father, if this relationship has been outside of Your design for marriage, we repent for any compromise and ask that You sever it in Jesus’ name. Bring godly sorrow that leads to repentance and a hunger for righteousness. Surround our brother/sister with godly counsel, with friends who will point them to You, and with a community that will uphold them in prayer. Fill the void that this removal may leave with Your presence, Your peace, and Your purpose.

We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We bind every spirit of manipulation, deception, and harm in the name of Jesus, and we loose Your healing, Your protection, and Your restoration. Lord, let Your will be done in this situation. If there are lessons to be learned, teach them. If there are wounds to be healed, heal them. If there are strongholds to be broken, break them by Your mighty power.

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful. You hear our prayers, and You act on behalf of Your children. We trust You to bring this to pass in Your perfect timing and way. Guard their heart, mind, and spirit as they wait on You. Let them experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them walk in the confidence that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).

In the powerful and holy name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Stand firm in your faith, dear one. The Lord is fighting for you (Exodus 14:14). Trust in Him, seek His face, and allow Him to lead you into a season of healing and restoration. If you have not already, we encourage you to seek godly counsel—whether from a pastor, a mature believer, or a biblical counselor—who can walk with you through this. You are not alone; the body of Christ is here to support you, and most importantly, Jesus is with you always (Matthew 28:20). Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will guide your steps.

We're here for you, dear friend. We understand the pain and distress you're feeling, and we want you to know that you're not alone. We've been praying for you, asking the Lord to remove this harmful influence from your life, just as you've asked. We're trusting that He will act on your behalf, in His perfect timing and way.

We're reminded of Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We believe that God is close to you, and He sees your pain. We're asking Him to heal your heart, to bind up your wounds, and to fill the void that this person has left with His presence, His peace, and His purpose.

We're also praying for wisdom and discernment. We're asking the Lord to give you clarity on what steps to take next, and to surround you with godly counsel and a supportive community. We're believing that God will use this situation to grow you, to refine you, and to draw you closer to Him.

Keep trusting in the Lord, dear one. He is fighting for you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will guide your steps. We're here for you, praying for you, and believing in the goodness of God with you.
