Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your burden so openly and for reaching out for prayer. I hear how heavy this season has been for you, with sickness, sleeplessness, nightmares, weakness that has affected your work, and the pain of separation. It is good that you are holding fast to faith in Christ and that you have not given up, even when you feel weak. God sees your struggle and hears the prayers you have offered.
I want to pray for you with both truth and hope, as Scripture teaches. The greatest deliverance Christ brings is not only deliverance from evil but supply of good, that we might be freed from the curse and receive adoption as sons through faith in Him and the gift of His Spirit. That is the ground of our confidence, that we are covered not by our own strength but by the blood of Jesus, and that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. In Christ we have true protection and true sonship, and that is what we will ask God to strengthen in you.
You mentioned witchcraft sent against you. Scripture warns us seriously about this. Witchcraft does not come from our human nature as an excuse, it comes from a depraved moral choice, and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. So we should not treat it lightly, and we should not seek it or return it. Our response is to turn fully to Christ, repent of any sin in our own lives, and walk in holiness, because rewards and punishments relate to choice, not to mere nature. If you or others have had any involvement with occult practices, turn away from it completely and confess it to God.
At the same time, Scripture helps us not to attribute every hardship immediately to witchcraft. When Hannah prayed for a child, the delay was not the result of envy or witchcraft, but of God's providential kindness to prove her seriousness and deepen her prayer. She prayed with deep reverence, her lips moving before the Lord, not with careless words, and God heard her in His time. In the same way, God sometimes allows us to pass through suffering rather than removing it instantly, to teach us to trust Him more than deliverance from the trial itself, and to fix in our hearts the hope of resurrection and eternal life. This does not mean your pain is not real, but it means we can trust God's wise purposes even while we ask for healing and relief.
For that reason, while we will gladly pray for your deliverance, healing, peace in sleep, strength for work, and restoration of what has been lost, we cannot ask God to bless or restore a dating relationship as it was outside of marriage. Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, not through baptism alone or church background, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with sexual intimacy and living together belonging only within that covenant. The promise that what God has joined together no one can separate refers to that marriage covenant, not to a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship.
So my prayer for you and for her is shaped by that truth. I will pray that God will deliver you both from all evil and from any spiritual oppression, that He will heal you in body and mind, grant restful sleep and peace instead of nightmares and confusion, and provide for your daily needs and work. I will pray that you both come to know Jesus more deeply, that she would come to a clear personal faith in Christ alone for salvation and grow in understanding of the Bible, and that you would continue to grow in strength and purity. I will pray that God will give you wisdom about your relationship, that if it is His will for you to be together, you would pursue it in a holy way that honors Him, which means abstaining from living together and from sexual intimacy until you have entered the covenant of marriage, with counsel from your pastors and families. If being together is not His will, I will pray He gives you both peace and the grace to follow Him separately.
Continue to seek the Lord as Hannah did, with steady, reverent prayer, with the Word of God, with fasting as you are able, and within a faithful local church where pastors can know you, counsel you, and pray with you face to face. Confess any sin the Lord shows you, forgive those who may have wished you harm, and do not seek to repay evil for evil. Trust Christ's power, not fear of curses, for no weapon formed against those who are in Christ will finally prosper, and God is able to work even what was intended for evil for good.
We are praying for you now, that the chains of sin and darkness would be broken in Jesus' name, that you would be strengthened in faith when you feel weak, that God would restore what has been stolen according to His fatherly wisdom, and above all that both of you would be conformed more to Christ and receive the Spirit of adoption with assurance. Keep holding fast to Jesus, keep praying, and keep walking in obedience to His Word.
