asking for prayers for restoration in my relationship

You see the sudden rupture, the schemes of those around you, and you cry out for restoration. I will not speak smooth things to soothe your pain while ignoring the disease beneath. The evil one, from the very beginning, has worked through envy to drive apart what God has joined and to bind together what God has separated. He is a murderer, and his lust is to see destruction. When a bond rests upon the shifting sand of this world’s passions, the adversary finds easy prey. You speak of a love that began at first sight, of years together, of plans to marry. But you do not speak of a foundation laid in godly fear. Where is the covenant? Where is the lawful union which makes two one by the Creator’s hand? You have dwelt together as though married, and now you taste the bitterness of a house built without the Lord’s cornerstone.

The Apostle proclaims the great tidings: God on earth, man in heaven, reconciliation through the Son, adoption as sons, the curse blotted out. Does this not teach us that our first and desperate need is to be made right with Him? You ask prayer for your bond, but the bond that must be forged is that of each soul to Christ. For you say she is weak in the Lord, and you are stronger. Yet the strong arm is not your own; it is the Lord who delivered Paul from the lion’s mouth and who delivers from every evil work. That same Deliverer will not be mocked. If you would have her return, desire first that she return to the Shepherd of her soul, and that you yourself walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.

I do not pray that the former life be stitched together again, like a torn garment that still bears the stain of old disorder. I pray that the enemy’s jaw be broken, that the darkness be scattered, that both of you flee from all that gives the devil a foothold. Let her be protected, let her be delivered from whatever evil has swallowed her. But let her be restored not merely to your shadow, but to the light of truth. Friendship and love must be built on godliness alone; all other grounds crumble. Seek therefore first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then whatever is truly good for you both will not be withheld. Let your hearts be open to forgiveness; yes, and open to repentance. For the time is evil, and the days are wicked because of what men do in them. But He who purged our sins by Himself is able to raise you from this pit, to make you children of Abraham by faith rather than by lust of worldly attachment. No weapon formed against you shall prosper if you stand in Him, not in the shadow of a passing affection, but in the unshakable joy of His covenant.

Your anguish comes through clearly, and I want you to know that what you’re facing is not outside the reach of God’s power. The sudden turn in your relationship, the timing right when you were preparing to marry and move, the stalking, the jealousy from others, all of that fits a pattern that Scripture does not take lightly. Evil is always seeking to be tolerated, always looking to compromise and destroy what God intends for good. And evil is anything that destroys you or destroys those around you. The kind of division you’re describing, something that pulls apart what seemed solid overnight, often has a spiritual root. But remember, the Lord is not confused by this. He sees every hidden thing.

What you believe in your heart, that this is not truly her, may very well be accurate. A person who is not yet strong in the Lord is vulnerable to being swept away by fears, by whispers, by the pressure of family or threats. That doesn’t mean the love you shared wasn’t real; it means she may be spiritually overmatched right now. And that is why your prayer for her deliverance and protection is so vital. But here is a deeper truth you must hold onto: before any human relationship can be secure, there has to be an established relationship with God. Relationship precedes effective prayer and lasting peace. If her foundation is not grounded in Christ personally, no amount of your strength can substitute for that. That is why your request for her to grow in God together is the right desire, but that growth must start with her own turning to the Lord, not just returning to you.

So your first and most important work is to cry out as your own Father, the guide of your youth, to deepen your own walk with Him. A right relationship with God makes every other relationship right. When the center holds, the rest can be built back. Spend these days not only asking for her return but asking the Lord to examine your own heart. Are there half-hearted places in your own faith? God does not want a lukewarm commitment, and sometimes the pressure of a crisis reveals where we’ve been leaning on human love more than on the One who never leaves. That’s not condemnation; it’s an invitation to move from a half-hearted relationship with Him into a full-blown one.

The envy and stalking you described have the fingerprints of the enemy. James asked, From where do wars and jealousies come? They come from human lusts and the love of money, the greed that stirs up strife. Evil people often encourage one another in evil matters. But God has warned us clearly: Do not go in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it. You cannot control what others have done or are doing, but you can refuse to let their poison sour your spirit. Do not render evil for evil or railing for railing. Refrain your tongue from slander, even if what you’re saying is true. Bitterness will only add another layer of separation. Keep your eyes looking straight ahead, ponder the path of your feet, and remove your foot from evil.

The promise that no weapon formed against you will prosper is real, but it stands alongside another truth: God gives warning after warning because He desires us to turn from the sin that destroys. If she has been drawn away through fear or spiritual weakness, the Lord can bring her back, but she must be willing to turn from any evil influence and return to the covering of God’s protection. Half-hearted relationship with God leaves a person exposed. Pray that she would not harden her heart but would acknowledge where she’s been, not blaming circumstances or people, but coming under the shield of the Almighty again.

Remember also that real forgiveness will be required, both from you and from her. The pattern we follow is this: Forgive as we have been forgiven. That means you must let go of any desire to prove you were right, any resentment over the sudden leaving, and any tally of wrongs. That’s not excusing what happened; it’s handing the weight to God so He can heal. A relationship rebuilt on grudges will crack again. A relationship rebuilt on understanding and hearts open to forgiveness can stand.

And do not underestimate what it means that you both connected so deeply from the start. God does bring people together, but what He joins, the enemy will try to rip apart. The fact that the separation happened right before marriage suggests a direct assault on a covenant the Lord intended. Yet God’s word assures us: they will return every man from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin. That is His heart, restoration, not destruction. Let that hope fuel your prayers.

For now, wait on God. Truly your soul waits upon Him; from Him comes your salvation. Keep bringing this before the throne, not with frantic begging but with the steady confidence of a son who knows his Father hears. Pray for her safety, that every evil scheme would be exposed and broken, and that she would find the courage to come home. While you wait, resist the temptation to mess up every other area of your life by spending all your energy trying to fix this one relationship alone. Keep your health, your work, your friendships, your service to the Lord intact. A steady life honors God and makes you a safe place for her to return to.

I am praying with you that the Lord will separate your sins from you both, deliver you from every snare, and restore what the enemy tried to steal. May your bond be purified, your understanding deepened, and your future together, if that is God’s will, built not on human affection only but on a shared, wholehearted walk with Christ. He will see you through.
