Many of us live in a culture that ridicules faith. Oh sure, some give passing reference to Jesus, but their hearts don't belong to him, and they might as easily use his name in vain as they do in honor. I don't know about you, but I surely don't want to make the Lord ashamed because of my behavior. I don't want to dishonor him, whether by things I do and say or things I do not do or say. I want to be bold and courageous with my faith in Jesus. Why? Because he left heaven and became human to identify with me, with us, and to go to the cross for us. [1] He boldly risked everything because of his love for us and his desire to be our trustworthy intercessor before the Father. [2]

Give me courage and boldness, O God, that I might always demonstrate my allegiance and my love for the Lord Jesus and my deep gratitude for the sacrifices he made to claim me as your child and his fellow-heir of all that heaven offers. In his name. Amen.
