Father, thank You for The Word and Holy Spirit that instruct us, 2 Tim 3:16-17, John 14:26, so we may not be unaware of the enemy's methods, 2 Cor 2:11. We do submit to You as the church Jesus said the gates of hell cannot stand against, Matt 16:18, and resist the devil, James 4:7, resist him firmly in the faith, 1 Pet 5:8, (Faith in Jesus AND the Authority of His Name, John 14:13-14, Mk 16:15-17, His Word, Matt 24:35, Lk 21:33, and His Position, Matt 28:18, Phil 2:9), so he will flee from us, James 4:7.

We do take the same advice as the other two Apostles, resist AND take up Your Armor and stand against, stand, stand firm against the schemes of darkness, by faith and patience we inherit the promises, Heb 6:12. We pray it over ourselves first, in submission to Your Word, even as it was the proper example and pattern of Christ, overcoming the devil first on for His own sake in the wilderness, Mt 4:1-11, Mk 1:12-13, Lk 4:1-13, then overcoming the world, flesh and devil for the world, John 16:33.

Knowing it's proper in airplane trips to be admonished to first place the oxygen mask over our own faces prior to assisting others, we pray the following Armor, Your Armor, The Armor of God, on ourselves by faith, as we receive everything else in the same manner, from salvation, Eph 2:8-9, to answered prayer, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6...

“Finally, brothers and sisters, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the Whole Armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the Whole Armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with Truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of The Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in The Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for the church, that utterance may be given to Your people, that they may open their mouths boldly to make known the mystery of the Gospel, for which some are ambassadors in chains; that all may speak boldly, as is fitting to speak," Eph‬ ‭6:11-20‬, in Jesus' Name.

We stand together in agreement with this powerful declaration, lifting up the full armor of God not only for ourselves but for all believers. The battle we face is indeed spiritual, and our strength comes from the Lord alone. We recognize that without His protection, we are vulnerable to the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. But we do not fight in our own strength, we fight in the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already overcome the world.

We first gird ourselves with the belt of truth, for Satan is the father of lies, and only God’s Word is truth. We reject deception and stand firm on the unchanging promises of Scripture. We put on the breastplate of righteousness, knowing that our own righteousness is as filthy rags, but Christ’s righteousness covers us. We shod our feet with the gospel of peace, ready to share the hope of salvation with those who are lost. We take up the shield of faith, trusting in God’s protection against every fiery dart of doubt, fear, and temptation. We place the helmet of salvation upon our heads, guarding our minds with the assurance of our eternal security in Christ. And we wield the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, speaking His truth with boldness and authority.

We pray this armor not only for ourselves but for the entire body of Christ, that we may stand united against the enemy’s attacks. We declare that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church, for Christ has already won the victory. We resist the devil in the name of Jesus, knowing that he must flee when we submit to God and stand firm in faith.

Lord, we ask You to strengthen every believer with Your might. Clothe us in Your armor so that we may stand unshaken in the day of battle. Give us boldness to proclaim the gospel, wisdom to discern the enemy’s schemes, and perseverance to endure until the end. May we walk in the fullness of Your Spirit, equipped for every good work. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the name by which we are saved and through which we have access to the Father. Amen.

Thank you for lifting up this prayer for the whole church. What stands out to us is the patient, daily nature of what you’re describing, not a one-time declaration but the steady “having done all, to stand” that runs through those verses.

When we pray this way for ourselves and all believers, it’s easy to feel the weight of the battle and wonder if we’re really making a difference. We’ve found it helpful to remember that the armor itself is Christ’s, his truth, his righteousness, his peace, his salvation. We’re not manufacturing strength; we’re receiving what he already is and has done. That takes some of the pressure off and keeps our prayers from becoming another heavy duty.

For many of us, a practical help has been finding even one other person who shares this burden, a prayer partner or small group where you can voice these scriptures aloud together. There’s something anchoring about hearing another voice agree with you in prayer for the body of Christ, especially on days when standing feels more like barely holding on.

We’re grateful you’re faithfully taking up this work on behalf of all of us.

Lord Jesus, thank you that the battle belongs to you and that you’ve clothed us in your own strength. Keep this dear intercessor steady when the fight feels long and unseen. Refresh their spirit, shield them from discouragement, and deepen their confidence that your Word never returns empty. Grant boldness and protection to believers everywhere, and let your gospel run swiftly. In your mighty name we pray. Amen.

The prayer you have brought before the throne is a mighty weapon-drawing, a true girding of the loins for the conflict. To see a soul so deliberately clothe itself in the whole armour of God, pleading the blood and the Word, is as the morning star that heralds the dawn of deliverance. It is the prelude of mercy; when such a cry is wrung from the depths of the spirit, the blessing is already on the wing. Prayer is the vice-regent of the answer, sent ahead to take possession before the King arrives.

Yet mark this: after such seasons of holy resolution and conscious nearness to God, the adversary often redoubles his fury. The brighter the sealing of the Spirit, the more fiercely the archer aims his burning shafts. When our Lord had been openly owned from heaven at His baptism, immediately He was driven into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. So it will be with you. The shield of faith must be held fast not as a theory but as the living defense that quenches every dart, and the sword of the Spirit must be wielded with the same “It is written” that overcame the foe. But fear not, for He that is in you is greater, and the Captain of your salvation has already destroyed the works of the devil for this very purpose.

Let your supplication continue to be laced with intercession for all the saints. This is the sweetest music that ever reaches the ear of the Most High, for it borrows from the melody of Christ’s own intercession. When a man prays for the whole family of faith, he proves his heritage and unites his heart to theirs. The decline of such prayer is the decay of brotherly love; the increase of it knits the body together and brings back the captivity as it did for Job. Stand therefore, not only for yourself but in the gap for the church of the living God, which is the pillar and ground of the truth. In days when men cry “peace, peace” where there is no peace, hold fast the true peace that is the daughter of truth, never of lies. Let the sword do its dividing work in your own heart first, that your hopes may rest on no false foundation.

Remember, too, that the Syrians’ error is ready to creep in. We fancy the Lord to be God of the hills of revival but not of the valleys of daily trial; God of our youthful zeal but not of our present perplexity. Cast down that imagination! He who was with the apostles in the upper room is equally the God of the marketplace and the sick-chamber. Your present wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but the outcome is sure: the God of the hills is God of the valleys, and He will deliver all the multitude of dark powers into your hand, that you may know He is the Lord.

Oh, that in the midst of the struggle you would press on to receive a blessing indeed, not the tinsel honors that fade, nor the comforts that leave the soul empty, but the benediction that comes straight from the covenant hand. The prayer of Jabez is still heard; what God grants in answer to desperate, persevering faith is substantial and enduring. And let the utterance given be bold. The mystery of the gospel must be spoken, chains or no chains. Pray still to open your mouth fearlessly, and expect that the Lord will bless His people with peace, the peace that garrisoned the heart of the Master while the storm raged, for He has overcome the world.

God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. Your prayer for the armor of God is a holy and necessary cry, for we are indeed at war not with men but with devils and those incorporeal powers. The weapons our Captain provides are not formed of hides and steel, but of truth, righteousness, faith, and the preparation of the gospel of peace. Yet take heed: many invoke this armor with their lips while their lives remain unfortified, and so they go into battle naked. The breastplate of righteousness must be proven in deeds, not merely named, else the enemy finds a gap.

The shield of faith must cover the whole frame; do not let it be so scanty as to leave your feet exposed. For when the devil hurls his fiery darts, reasonings that set the soul ablaze with doubts like “Is there a resurrection? Is there a judgment?” or the flame of base desire, hold forth your faith in the good things to come, and they will be quenched. Let your faith not be choked by endless scrutinizing, but let it be large enough to cover all.

The helmet of salvation guards the head, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, must be wielded not only in prayer but in daily obedience. Stand therefore with your loins girt about with truth, not the shifting opinions of men. And when you pray for all saints, remember that your own armor must first be tested in the wilderness of your own heart, even as Christ overcame for Himself before overcoming for the world. The fire was prepared for the devil and his angels; do not cast yourself into it through carelessness.

Resist the devil with longsuffering; quench the flame of anger with the water of patience. Thus, having done all, by grace through faith you shall stand firm.
