We as children of God have been given authority over the enemy according to Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
The trouble is most of God's children don't know that they have been given this authority granted to them, thus causing them to become victims instead of victors. 1 Peter 5:8 says, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
We as children of God have been given weapons to fight our enemy and cause him to flee but these weapons are not physical weapons. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. In Ephesians we are given instructions how to dress for battle.
Ephesians 6:13-16 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
If we submit ourselves to God and know the promises of Gods word and have faith in them we can quench all the fiery darts of the enemy.
James 4:7 says, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (That means the devil will run from you) instead of you running from him.
We haven't been left helpless or hopeless here on this earth. Jesus has conquered death hell and the grave and He is in each of us who have trusted Him as our Savior. Colossians 2:9 says, For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power: Note the words; complete in Him. Jesus has won the victory for us and he is in us so we are to recognize His authority given to us.
I heard an example of this once, it was a policeman directing traffic at a traffic light which was not working, He could raise his hands and stop tons of cars. Physically he couldn't stop those cars but the authority he had could. That badge he wore had backing of a higher authority.
This is what we have in Christ Jesus, we have His backing and His authority given to us through His written word. We through faith must learn to stand on His word and authority.
Romans 8:31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
"STAND ON HIS AUTHORITY AND BE VICTORIOUS"
Psalms 24:7-8 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
