Are my suspicions warranted?

In the uncertainty of our times, I see one thing uncertain people turn to. There have always been these "soothsayers", but worse yet, lately I'm seeing more of them that are claiming "Christianity", yet have this practice. Like someone who comes to them with worldly problems, and the "pastor" usually tells them something negative will happen to them, their worries are correct. BUT! Not to worry, if you give them another ($$) they could "reverse the curse on you". Also, they "sell" presumed cures for a price, proclaiming things like for a special love offering of "you will receive a piece of the robe that Jesus wore to the cross, when He redeemed us". And so on, with increasing prices for each "blessing". Are my suspicions warranted with these activities? If someone prays for the desperate people running to them to solve worldly concerns.

Your suspicions are not only warranted but deeply aligned with the truth of Scripture. What you describe is not Christianity—it is greed, deception, and exploitation disguised as faith. The Lord Jesus Christ and His apostles never sold blessings, demanded money for prayers, or promised worldly deliverance in exchange for financial offerings. Such practices are an abomination before God, and we must expose them with the light of His Word.

The Bible is clear: **"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. By their fruits you will know them"** (Matthew 7:15-16, WEB). These so-called "pastors" are not shepherds—they are wolves, preying on the vulnerable, the desperate, and the spiritually hungry. Their fruit is not love, joy, or peace, but fear, manipulation, and financial extortion. **"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as Christ’s apostles. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. It is no great thing therefore if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works"** (2 Corinthians 11:13-15, WEB).

The practice of selling "blessings" or "cures" is nothing short of **simony**—the sin of buying or selling spiritual things, which the early church condemned fiercely. Peter’s rebuke to Simon the Sorcerer is a stark warning: **"Your money perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! You have no part or lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before God. Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven"** (Acts 8:20-22, WEB). These modern-day charlatans are no different from Simon—they seek to profit from the Holy, and their judgment will be severe unless they repent.

As for their claims of possessing "pieces of Jesus’ robe" or other relics—this is **idolatry and superstition**, not faith. Our trust is in **Christ alone**, not in objects, rituals, or human intermediaries. **"Little children, keep yourselves from idols"** (1 John 5:21, WEB). The power of God is not in a scrap of fabric or a trinket sold for a "love offering"—it is in the **finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross**, freely given to all who believe. **"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast"** (Ephesians 2:8-9, WEB).

We must also address the **damage these false teachers inflict on the desperate**. They exploit fear, telling people that disaster is coming—unless they pay up. This is **spiritual abuse**, and it is detestable to God. **"The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and him who loves violence"** (Psalm 11:5, WEB). These deceivers do not speak for God; they speak for their own greed. **"Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, against the shepherds who feed my people: You have scattered my flock, driven them away, and have not visited them. Behold, I will visit on you the evil of your doings, says the Lord"** (Jeremiah 23:1-2, WEB).

Now, let us pray for those who are trapped in this deception—both the deceivers and the deceived.

---
**Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, grieved by the deception that has infiltrated Your church. Lord, You have warned us that in the last days, many will come in Your name, leading astray even the elect if possible. But You have also given us Your Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We ask for discernment for Your people, that they may test every spirit and recognize the voice of the True Shepherd.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of greed, deception, and exploitation that drives these false teachers. Expose their works, Lord, and let their schemes be brought to nothing. May those who have been ensnared by their lies be set free by the truth of Your Word. Break the chains of fear and superstition, and let them find refuge in You alone.

For the desperate souls running to these wolves, we pray for deliverance. Open their eyes to see that salvation is not for sale—it was purchased by the precious blood of Jesus. Let them turn away from these charlatans and run to You, the only Source of true hope and healing.

And for the false teachers themselves, we pray for conviction. If it is Your will, soften their hearts to repentance before it is too late. Let them fall on their faces before You, confessing their sins, and turn from their wicked ways. But if they harden their hearts, let their deeds be exposed, that no more souls may be led astray.

Strengthen Your true shepherds, Lord—those who feed Your flock with Your Word, who do not seek personal gain but only Your glory. Raise up bold voices to proclaim the truth without compromise.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise, honor, and glory. Amen.**
---

To those who may be reading this and have been ensnared by such deception: **Turn to Jesus Christ alone.** He does not demand money for His blessings—He **freely gives** eternal life, peace, and deliverance to all who call on His name. **"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest"** (Matthew 11:28, WEB). If you have been manipulated by fear or false promises, repent and seek the Lord with all your heart. He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

If you are in a church or under a "ministry" that operates this way, **flee from it.** Find a body of believers who preach the **unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ**, who do not twist the Scriptures for personal gain. **"But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any ‘good news’ other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed"** (Galatians 1:8, WEB).

Stand firm in the truth, and do not be deceived. The Lord is your Provider, your Healer, and your Deliverer—not those who peddle His grace for profit. **"The Lord is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing"** (Psalm 23:1, WEB). Trust in Him alone.

Oh, dear friend, our hearts ache with you as you witness these wolves in sheep's clothing, preying on the vulnerable and desperate. It's as if we're living in the days Jesus warned us about, when false prophets would come in His name, deceiving many (Matthew 24:24). But we take comfort in the fact that God has not left us without a means to discern truth from falsehood.

We've been praying for you, and for those who are being led astray by these deceivers. We ask God to open their eyes, to reveal the truth to them, and to protect them from further harm. We also pray for the false teachers themselves, that God would soften their hearts and bring them to repentance.

In the meantime, we urge you to stay vigilant, dear one. Test every spirit, as the Bible warns us (1 John 4:1). If something doesn't align with the Word of God, it's not of Him. And remember, our trust is in Christ alone, not in objects, rituals, or human intermediaries.

Let's continue to lift each other up in prayer, and let's stand firm in the truth, no matter how difficult the circumstances. God is faithful, and He will see us through these trying times.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
