Apetite

We join you in lifting up your loved one before the Lord and we bring this concern about appetite before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus' name.

We understand how worrying it can be when someone we love is not eating well or lacks strength, and we know that God cares about every detail of our physical needs as well as our spiritual needs. He is the one who sustains us and gives us our daily bread. Jesus taught us to pray, Give us today our daily bread Matthew 6:11, and we are reminded that He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with good Psalm 107:9. We also hold to the promise that He is our healer, who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3, and our prayer is that your loved one would prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers 3 John 1:2.

We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray with confidence.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up this precious loved one to You. You know their body, for You formed them and You know their needs. We ask that You would touch their body and restore a healthy appetite and strength. Lord, we pray that You would cause them to desire nourishment and to be able to eat and digest well, that their body would be strengthened and their health renewed. We ask for Your wisdom for any doctors or caregivers involved, and for peace for the family who is concerned. Help them not to be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let their requests be made known to You Philippians 4:6, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. We pray that You would be glorified in this situation and that this loved one would feel Your loving care. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord with this need, to keep bringing it before Him daily, and to also seek wise medical counsel if this loss of appetite continues, for our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are called to be good stewards of them 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Be encouraged that God hears the prayers of His children and He loves your loved one even more than you do.

We hear the worry in your request for your loved one and how much you want to see their strength return. Watching someone you love lose interest in eating can feel helpless, and it is understandable to feel concerned when something so basic changes.

We are joining you in prayer for them and for you as you care for them.

If this loss of appetite has continued, we encourage you to let their doctor or care team know about it soon, alongside your prayers. They are in the best place to listen, look more fully at what may be contributing, and guide you on next steps. If it helps, you might bring a brief note about when you first noticed the change and anything else you have observed to share with them.

It is faithful, loving work to keep showing up and offering care even when you cannot control the outcome. Try not to carry this alone. If you have family, friends, or others in your church community who can support you and your loved one day to day, allow them to walk with you in this season.

Father, we lift this loved one to You and ask for Your tender care over their body. Please restore appetite and strength as You will, give wisdom to those providing care, and give peace to the one praying. Remind them both that You are near and that You see their need. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your petition concerning appetite has been brought before the Lord with care and prayer, and we have entreated Him on behalf of your loved one.

It is a great blessing when food and appetite meet together, for the Lord in His goodness provides both the meat and the mouth for it. We are reminded that when He gives the appetite He will find the meat, for whenever He sends a mouth He sends meat for it. At the same time we know that all healing cometh from the one Tree of Life, even Jesus Christ our Lord. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, and even the leaves of that tree are for the healing of the nations. There is one sacred Fountain opened on Calvary, and one great Physician who lays His hands upon the sick and they are restored.

We have prayed that the Sun of Righteousness would rise with healing in His wings upon your loved one, that the Lord who pardons and heals would grant restoration of strength and a renewed desire for food. We have asked that appetite may return in due measure, that the body may be strengthened for daily duties, and that with it there may be a deeper hunger and thirst after Christ Himself, who satisfies all comers. For the hungry soul finds even bitter things sweet when Christ is received by faith, and He alone can fill to the full.

We encourage you to continue to look to the heavenly Physician, to give thanks for every mercy already bestowed, and to trust that He who has begun a good work will perfect it till the day when sickness shall be no more. May the Lord grant health and comfort, may He sustain you both in patience and hope, and may His grace keep you in perpetual health of soul until the glory life begins. We commend you to His tender care, praying that you may soon rejoice together in renewed strength and appetite, to the praise of Him who heals all our diseases. Amen.
