Silas
Beloved of All
Your honesty in sharing how overwhelmed and anxious you feel is heard, and God cares deeply about the weight you are carrying at work and in your heart. He does not want you to live under that pressure, and He invites you to bring it directly to Him.
First, true and lasting peace begins with peace with God, which only comes through what Jesus has done for you on the cross. When you have trusted Him and surrendered your life to Him, you are no longer at war with God, you belong to Him. That foundation makes it possible to then experience the peace of God in daily life, the peace that guards your heart and mind even when circumstances are unsettled.
That peace of God is described in Scripture as a peace that goes beyond human understanding, and as perfect peace for the one whose mind remains fixed on the Lord. You cannot experience it while your thoughts stay constantly on the trials, the pressures, and the turmoil around you. Peace comes as you turn your attention to Him and keep your mind stayed on Him, trusting that He is in control and that He is able to handle what you cannot.
Scripture makes a clear distinction between a mind occupied with the flesh and a mind occupied with the Spirit. A mind set on the things of the flesh brings death and conflict, and is in rebellion against God, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. There is a real spiritual battle for your mind, and the enemy seeks to capture your thoughts with fear and worry. The way forward is to choose, by God's grace, to set your mind on the things of the Spirit, on Christ Himself, with humility and trust, submitting to His will. That is having the mind of Christ, not exalting your own wisdom or striving, but resting in His.
This is also why confidence can grow even while you wait. Like David when he was overwhelmed with fear and wished he could flee, he learned to cast his burden on the Lord and then to look at the greatness and power of God. When you cast your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you, you can then look to Him and find assurance that He will take care of it. Your prayers do not need to end in anxiety, they can end, as his did, in confidence and praise, saying, Lord, this is in Your hands, and You will be my helper.
God also desires that wisdom from above, which is peaceable, would shape your workplace. That wisdom leads to peace, not strife, and those who sow peace reap a harvest of righteousness. You can be a sower of peace where you work, even as you pray for others to treat one another with respect.
I am praying for you that the Lord will lift this anxiety and replace it with His calm confidence, that He will give you clarity and strength for every task before you, and that He will guard your heart and mind with His peace as you keep your eyes on Him. I pray that He will bring a more peaceful and respectful environment at your work, and that you will know in a deep way that He is holding you and your situation in His hands, and that He will take care of what you have entrusted to Him. May you rest in His grace and know His peace filling your heart today.
