Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so openly. Feeling overwhelmed and anxious at work is a heavy burden, and God cares deeply about the peace of your mind and the details of your daily tasks.
Scripture makes a distinction that can help here. There is peace with God, and there is the peace of God. Peace with God comes only through Jesus Christ, through His blood shed for you. When you surrender your life to Him, the war between you and God ends. You are forgiven and brought near. That is the foundation. But many who have peace with God have not yet learned to live in the peace of God day by day, the steady quiet that keeps your heart and mind when everything around you feels chaotic.
That peace comes as your mind is stayed on Him. The prophet says God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is fixed on Him. When your thoughts are constantly on the pressures, the deadlines, the difficult relationships, anxiety grows. When you turn your mind toward the Lord and keep it there, looking to Him rather than to the turmoil, His peace begins to fill your heart. It is not that the problems disappear, but you are able to say from the heart, Lord, this is in Your hands, I trust You to take care of it.
This is also what Scripture means when it says to be spiritually minded is life and peace. The mind that is occupied with only the things of the flesh, with striving and fear and self effort, leads to death and unrest. The mind that is occupied with the things of the Spirit, with Christ and His grace and His promises, leads to life and peace. The fleshly mind is at war with God and cannot rest. The spiritual mind submits to God and finds rest.
You asked for confidence and for help with your work. True confidence does not come from trying harder to believe in yourself. It grows as you come to know more of the grace of God and of Jesus our Lord. Grace and peace are multiplied as you grow in knowing Him. The more you see how gracious He is toward you, how He has already made peace for you and how He is with you in each task, the more peace takes the place of anxiety.
For your workplace, God desires peace there as well. The wisdom that comes from above is first pure and then peaceable. Worldly wisdom leads to strife and competition, but heavenly wisdom leads to peace and makes peace. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God, and Scripture says the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. You can be one who sows peace in that environment by seeking to act in gentleness, humility and respect, and trusting God to help you reap a harvest of righteousness and a more respectful, comfortable atmosphere among coworkers. You cannot control everyone else, but you can ask God to make you a sower of His peace where you are.
You do not have to live in constant worry and fear. The promise to you in Christ is that the peace of God, which is beyond all human understanding, will guard your heart and mind as you bring your requests to Him.
I am praying for you, that God will quiet your anxiety and replace it with His perfect peace as you keep your mind on Him, that He will give you confidence rooted in His grace and presence with you, that He will give you wisdom and strength for every task at work, and that He will help cultivate a workplace marked by mutual respect and peace. May you rest your case fully in His hands today and experience His peace keeping your heart steady in Christ. Amen.
