Another prayer

Thanking God with you for the removal of the large tumor in your brain is the right place to begin, and I join you in giving Him praise for that mercy. To walk a cancer journey for five and a half years, and to face its spread to lungs and bones and later to kidney and bladder, is a heavy burden, and I hear how much you have carried.

I believe with all my heart that God heals, and Scripture shows He heals in many ways. At times Jesus healed instantly with a touch, at other times with only a word from a distance, and once the healing came gradually. He is not confined to one pattern. Much about healing I do not fully understand, and why some are healed in one way and others are not is beyond me. What I do hold to is that every true healing is from God. He created our bodies and built into them wonderful processes for restoration. The brain itself shows His wisdom, with its intricate design to receive and interpret all that comes through our senses, and with its capacity to repair and form new connections when there has been damage. When healing comes through the skill of doctors, through radiation or other treatment, or through the natural processes God placed in the body, it is still divine healing, because nature and its processes are His creation.

Scripture also teaches us not to presume that God wills healing in every case in the way we ask, as we see with Paul who prayed three times concerning his thorn and was given grace to endure. At the same time we are invited to come boldly and ask, for Jesus went about healing every sickness and disease among the people, and Matthew tells us this fulfilled what Isaiah spoke, that He Himself bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. When we come to communion we remember His body broken for us, and we remember that He is both Savior and Healer, the One who meets us in our deepest need, bringing healing not only to the body but also to the mind and heart where fear and wounds remain.

So I pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking our Father who heals, that He would guide the doctors as they consider radiation for the smaller tumor in your brain, that He would grant wisdom and steadiness to their hands and minds. I ask that the cancer would not have grown further, that the scans would show no new spread, and that you would be spared the need for more chemotherapy if it is His will. I ask also for His peace to guard your heart, for strength for each day, and for a deep healing of spirit and emotions through this long trial. We place you fully in the hands of Jesus, who loves you, who bore your griefs, and who knows perfectly what you need, trusting His goodness and His wise and loving will for your life. Amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting you up before the Lord and rejoicing with you that He allowed the removal of the large tumor in your brain and we give thanks to God and to Jesus for His mercy and sustaining grace to you through this five and a half year cancer journey.

We have continued to pray in the name of Jesus Christ for the smaller tumor that remains that the doctors would have wisdom as they radiate it and that the treatment would be completely effective. We have also been praying that the cancer that spread to your lungs and bones and later to your kidney and bladder has not grown any further and that you will not need any more chemotherapy. We are trusting the Lord who is our healer as it is written in Psalm 103:3 and we ask Him to fill you with His peace and strength in the days ahead.

If your request was answered and your scans show no further growth and you have been spared from further treatment please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice and give glory to God with you. If your request does not yet seem to have been answered or you are still waiting for radiation and test results please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name Amen.
