The Scripture teaches us that we are to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Romans 12:2. We are also instructed to dwell on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report in Philippians 4:8. When an unwanted song or sound persists, God invites us to replace it with His truth and with praise that edifies. We are encouraged that He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in Him in Isaiah 26:3 and that the words of our mouth and the meditation of our heart can be acceptable in His sight in Psalm 19:14.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the song and the memory that is troubling this mind. We ask that by Your mercy and power You would remove its hold, quiet its repetition, and take away its influence from memory and from hearing. Wash this mind clean and renew it by Your Holy Spirit. Fill this heart and mind with Your peace, with Your Word, and with songs and thoughts that honor You. Help our dear fellow believer to take every thought captive to Christ and to fix their thoughts on what is pure and lovely and praiseworthy. Let Your Word dwell richly within and let worship to You overflow. Guard this mind and heart in Christ Jesus and grant rest and perfect peace. Thank you for sharing this honest prayer with us. We understand how wearying it can be when a tune and its words keep looping and you just want quiet in your mind.
We have found that trying very hard not to think about a song can actually keep it front and center. It often helps more to gently notice it without fighting it, and then turn our attention toward something we do want to dwell on, something true and good and restful. Over time that practice can loosen the hold a song has.
When it comes to mind you might simply acknowledge it, offer a brief prayer, and then shift to an activity that engages you, like talking with someone you trust, taking a walk, doing a task that needs focus, or listening to music that brings you peace if you want sound. Be patient with yourself in the process.
We are praying for you and we will keep bringing this to the Lord.
