We join you in prayer before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for coming in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace and it is only by His name that we are saved and delivered.
We hear your heart's desire to have something you did and a painful term completely removed from your memory and to be free from all demonic influence, and we bring this burden to the Lord with you.
We want to share what Scripture teaches about memory, guilt, and spiritual freedom. God promises complete forgiveness when we confess and turn from sin. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. He says I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake and I will not remember your sins Isaiah 43:25. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1. What God removes is the guilt, the record, and the condemnation, and He washes us clean.
At the same time, God does not always erase the memory itself, but He heals and renews the mind so that the memory no longer torments or controls us. We are told don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2 and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. He can redeem even painful memories and use them for our growth and for His glory, and He promises the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Concerning demonic spirits, we stand on the truth that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4 and that when we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us James 4:7. Our authority is not in our own strength but in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection.
We pray with you now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You are merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness. We ask that You forgive our brother or sister for what was done that now weighs so heavily, wash it away by the blood of Jesus, and blot out the transgression from Your record. Lord, we ask that You heal the mind and the memory. Where there is torment, shame, or intrusive thoughts, bring Your peace. Renew the mind by Your Holy Spirit and Your Word, and help every thought to be taken captive to Christ. Remove the sting of this memory and the painful term associated with it, and replace it with thoughts that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report Philippians 4:8. We rebuke every demonic spirit and every influence of the enemy in Jesus' name and we command it to leave and not return. Fill this dear one with Your Holy Spirit, with light and with truth, so there is no place for darkness. Help them to walk in submission to You, to dwell in Your Word daily, and to walk in the freedom Christ has purchased. Let them know with assurance that they are forgiven, cleansed, and made new, and that no condemnation remains. We ask this in the name above every name, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue to confess openly to God, to turn from anything that opened a door to the enemy, and to fill your mind daily with Scripture. Speak Scripture aloud when troubling thoughts come, pray continually, and if needed seek a mature pastor or biblical counselor to walk with you. God is faithful to complete the healing work He has begun in you.
