The Queen of the South, or the Earnest Enquirer
An earnest search for Christ’s wisdom brings joy and condemns those who refuse to seek Him.
Romans, but not Romanists
Christians must love and serve one another, honoring those who faithfully labor for the Church.
And Why Not?
We often undervalue present blessings and later regret not cherishing them when they are gone.
We hear your cry and we join with you in bringing this burden before our Heavenly Father, and we thank you for coming in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We understand the pain of a memory that lingers and troubles the heart, whether it is a memory of hurt done to you, hurt you have caused, or images and thoughts you wish you could forget. We know our Father sees this struggle and He cares deeply about the anguish of your mind. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. And we know He does not always erase the past as if it never happened, but He redeems it and heals us so that it no longer has power over us.

The Lord invites us to bring every anxious thought to Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We also take comfort that He promises perfect peace to those whose minds are stayed on Him. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3.

We want to encourage you to not fight this memory in your own strength alone, but to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5. This means when the memory comes, we choose to hand it to Jesus, to confess it, to ask for His forgiveness where needed, and to receive His forgiveness where we have been forgiven. If this memory is tied to sin, confess it fully to Him, for if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. If it is tied to trauma or regret, we can ask Him to renew our minds day by day. Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2. And we are called to think on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8.

The Lord also says Don't remember the former things, and don't consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it springs forth. Don't you know it? Isaiah 43:18-19. He does not want you to be held captive by what you wish to forget, but to walk forward in the newness He gives.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You know the memory that weighs so heavily, You know its source and its pain even when we do not know the details. We ask in Jesus name that You would touch this mind and heart with Your healing hand. Where there is guilt, grant Your full forgiveness and cleansing. Where there is hurt and trauma, bring Your comfort and restoration. Help this dear one to cast this burden on You and to receive Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Teach us to bring every thought captive to Your obedience and to renew our minds with Your truth. Remove the sting and power of this memory, and where it remains, redeem it for Your glory and use it to draw this dear one closer to You. Fill the mind instead with what is true and pure and lovely, and keep us in perfect peace as we trust in You. We thank You that You hear us because we ask in the name of Jesus, our only Savior and mediator, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. We trust Your will and Your timing and Your mercy. Amen.

We hear the ache behind your short prayer, wanting something painful lifted from your mind. It takes honesty to bring that to God so plainly, and we are grateful you did.

We have found God does not always take a memory away completely, but He can gently soften its sting and change how it lives in us. He can meet us right in the place that hurts and bring a steadier peace over time, even when the memory itself remains.

If this is something that keeps coming back and weighing on you, it can help not to carry it alone. One small next step could be to share it with one trusted pastor, counselor or mature believer who can pray with you personally and walk with you over time, not just once. You do not have to explain more than you want to, just inviting someone to stand with you can make the burden lighter.

We are praying for you now.

Father, thank You for hearing this honest cry. You know what is being carried in memory and how heavy it feels. We ask You to bring Your comfort and healing presence there, to quiet what is painful and to give peace and rest. Guide and strengthen in the days ahead and draw close. In Jesus name, amen.
