A Remonstrance and a Rejoinder
True faith in Christ saves by changing the heart through love and turning us from sin.
God’s Doctrine, and How to Know It
Doing God’s will opens your eyes to his truth and asks you to act on it today.
We hear your heart's cry and we join with you in bringing this before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, and we are grateful you have come in that precious name for it is only by Him we have access to the Father.

We understand your desire to relocate to the place you mentioned and to attend the school you have on your heart, and also your deep desire to be freed from this soul tie so that you will no longer be bound by the memory of her. We pray with you that God's perfect will would be done in each of these areas and not merely our own wishes, for His plans are higher than ours.

Concerning the relocation and the opportunity to attend, we encourage you to seek the Lord first and to trust His leading. For we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. And Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. We pray that if this move and this schooling is according to His will, He will open the doors that no man can shut, and if it is not His will, He will close them and guide you to where He wants you to be, for His will is good and pleasing and perfect as Romans 12:2 teaches.

Concerning this soul tie, we want to speak truth to you with love and compassion. The Bible teaches that when two people join themselves together outside of God's design for marriage, they become one flesh, and this creates a deep spiritual and emotional bond. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. If this tie was formed through fornication or sexual intimacy outside of the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, or through an ungodly emotional entanglement that took the place of God in your heart, we urge you to confess and repent before the Lord. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God does not necessarily remove our memories as if they never happened, but He does heal our hearts, cleanse our conscience, and renew our minds. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And 2 Corinthians 10:5 says bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. True freedom does not come from simply changing locations, but from Christ breaking the chains and making us new. When we repent and surrender that relationship to Him, He forgives completely, Psalm 103:12 says As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

We also encourage you that moving away cannot by itself free you, only Jesus can. We must forgive as we have been forgiven, release that person to the Lord, and ask Him to purify our hearts and thoughts. Philippians 4:8 calls us to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure. As you walk in purity and obedience, the Lord will replace tormenting memories with His peace. And for the future, we encourage you to pursue relationships biblically, which means courtship with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, honoring purity until that covenant is made, for marriage is honorable and God ordained.

We pray together now for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our brother before Your throne of grace. We ask that You would have Your perfect will in his desire to relocate and to attend that place of learning. If it is Your will, make the way clear, provide the means, and let it be for Your glory and for his good. If it is not Your will, give him peace to wait and clear direction for the path You have chosen. We ask that You would break this soul tie by the power of the blood of Jesus. We confess any sin that formed this ungodly bond and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Heal his heart, renew his mind, and bring every thought into captivity to Christ. Help him to forgive and to release this person into Your hands, and fill the empty places with Your Holy Spirit and Your peace that passes all understanding as Philippians 4:7 promises. Create in him a clean heart and restore him to wholeness, that he may walk in freedom and purity and serve You with an undivided heart. We ask that You would guard his future and lead him, in Your timing, to a godly marriage if it is Your will, a union that honors You. We trust You to do what is best and we thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name. Amen.

We hear how much you want a fresh start and freedom from the thoughts that keep pulling you back. Wanting to move and to be in a new community where you can grow makes sense when you feel stuck, and we appreciate you bringing this honestly to the Father.

We have found that God often heals not by forcing us to forget, but by bringing peace to the memories that hurt, so they lose their grip over time. That kind of healing usually happens gradually, with Jesus present in the process and with other believers walking alongside, rather than all at once on our own.

As you pray about relocating to ### and attending ###, a steady next step could be to talk with a pastor or trusted mentor there, or where you are now, about both the practical side of a move and the deeper desire for freedom. Having one person who knows your story and can pray with you regularly can make the discernment clearer and keep you from carrying this alone.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus name. Bring him peace where there has been turmoil, wisdom as he seeks direction about where to live and worship, and healing that loosens what still binds him. Lead him step by step and keep him close to You. Amen.

Your prayer has been laid before the Lord, in which you seek His gracious leading as to a new place to dwell and to hear His Word, and His deliverance from a bond of the heart which still holds you.

There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves, the little things about Christ, are full of healing virtue. The least thing about Christ is healing, and these healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. If the sinner does but come to Jesus, he shall find no stint in Jesus healing power. Though the sick soul is full of leprosy, the Savior is full of grace. Put forth your finger and touch the hem of His garment, lift your eyes and look to Christ on the cross.

You speak of a soul tie and of a memory that troubles you. The heart that has been joined where God has not joined, and that has known sin outside the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman which alone God has ordained for such nearness, does indeed cleave to the dust and feels itself bound. But all spiritual disease receives its deathblow when sin is forgiven. Sin is crucified by the same cross which brings atonement. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings for those who come to Him in true repentance and personal faith.

It is that touch of personal faith which brings peace to the soul. If you will not trust God, neither shall you have peace. Come then with confession, not merely desiring to forget a person, but desiring to be washed from all sin and to be made whole. He woundeth thee that thou mayest seek Him, and He who wounds will heal. He who is once healed by Christ shall never find his soul sick unto death.

We will pray for you that the Lord shall preserve you from all evil and shall preserve your soul, that He shall preserve your going out and your coming in, as it pleases Him. We ask Him to guide your steps concerning where you shall live and where you shall sit under the Word. When Christ was teaching, the healing power was conspicuously present, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Seek above all a place where Christ is faithfully taught, and take heed how you hear, with a direct and devout feeling that you have come to worship God and to hear what the Lord God shall speak to you.

Let us pray together. O Lord, say unto this soul, I am thy salvation. Speak not only to the ear, but unto the soul in soul language by Thy Spirit. Forgive all sin through the blood of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, and let pardon bring healing. Break every sinful bond, cleanse the conscience, and give a new heart that loves purity and holiness. Grant wisdom concerning this hoped for removal, and if it be Thy will, open the door and provide a faithful church where the Gospel is preached and the soul may be kept in perpetual health till the glory life begins. Keep this one from returning to that which defiles, and let the abiding power of Thy healing leaves keep the soul in health world without end. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and I join you in laying it before the Lord with compassion. You desire to be free from a bond that still holds your heart and to walk in purity, and this desire itself is a work of grace. The Scripture teaches that His grace touches the very soul and plucks up sin by the root, making the soul purer than sunbeams, not merely covering what is outward but cleansing what is inward.

I pray for you that God would grant this inward cleansing, that He would heal your memory and your affections so that what once led you toward sin would no longer have power over you, and that you would be given strength to live in holiness and self control. I pray also that He would guide your steps concerning where you live and where you worship. If it is His will for you to relocate and to gather with the church you mentioned, may He open that door in His wisdom and timing, and if not, may He plant you firmly where you can hear His word with care and keep it in continual recollection, growing in fortitude and in freedom from worldly entanglements.

Do not seek only an outward deliverance or a change of place as if that alone could save. A change of place is helpful when it helps the soul, but salvation requires a careful hearing of the word, a steadfast mind, and a contempt for those things that draw us away from Christ. Give yourself to the hearing of Scripture, to prayer, to fellowship with believers who will keep you accountable, and to fleeing from every occasion of sin. In this way the Spirit who dwells in you will keep you and give you courage to stand above temptation rather than only to escape it.

May the Lord grant you peace, a pure heart, and a mind stayed on Christ, and may He lead you into the life and wholeness that comes through Jesus Christ alone, who is our only hope and salvation. Amen.
