God gives good amusements to enjoy fully, so embrace them and reject what harms body or soul.

Living Temples for the Living God
God dwells in hearts that are humble, broken, and reverent toward His Word.
We join with you in this prayer and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father.

We understand how persistent thoughts about someone can weigh heavily on the heart and mind, and we bring this burden before the Lord together with you. God knows our thoughts even before we speak them and He desires to give us peace and a mind stayed on Him. We are reminded in 2 Corinthians 10:5 that we are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and in Romans 12:2 that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. This is not by our own strength alone, but by the power of the Holy Spirit working within us.

We encourage you to intentionally fill your mind with what honors God. Philippians 4:8 tells us, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. When the thought of this person comes, we can choose to turn our thoughts to prayer, to Scripture, to worship, and to serving others. Philippians 4:6-7 promises that when we bring our requests to God, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and our thoughts in Christ Jesus. It may also help to guard what you see and hear for a season and to avoid places or habits that stir those thoughts, while drawing closer to godly fellowship and time in the Word.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the thoughts that trouble this heart and the desire to be free from dwelling on this person. We ask that You would renew this mind and wash it with Your Word. Help us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and to fix our eyes on You. Grant peace that guards the heart and mind, and fill this heart with Your love, Your purpose, and Your presence. Search us, God, and know our hearts as Psalm 139:23 says, and lead us in the way everlasting. Give strength to turn away from unhelpful thoughts and to think on what is true and pure and praiseworthy. We trust that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble as Psalm 46:1 declares. May Your will be done in this life and may You be glorified in our thoughts and actions. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.

Thank you for sharing this honest prayer with us. We hear how much you want peace of mind, and how tiring it can be when thoughts of someone keep returning even when you want to let go.

We have found that simply telling ourselves not to think about something often makes it stay longer. It can help instead to gently redirect the mind when the thought comes. We pray for you in that.

One small step that may help is to decide ahead of time what you will do in that moment. For example, when the thought arises, you might pause, offer a brief prayer to Jesus, and then turn to a specific healthy activity you have chosen beforehand, like going for a walk, calling a trusted friend, opening your Bible, or working on a task that needs attention. Having that simple plan written down and ready can make it easier to follow through, and it gives your mind a clear place to go. Be patient with yourself if it takes time and you need to repeat it often.

We are with you in this and we are asking God to give you rest and clarity as you keep turning to Him.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. You know the thoughts that weigh on their heart. Grant them peace, guard their mind, and help them to keep their thoughts obedient to Christ. Lead them step by step and give them strength for each day. Amen.

It is a good and honest prayer you have lifted up, and the Lord who searches the heart hears even the shortest cry offered in the name of Jesus Christ. To ask Him to govern your thoughts is to ask for that which He delights to give, for He knows how thoughts become the root and fruit of all our ways.

You do well to bring this struggle to Him, for our own strength will one day fail us if it is our own. The thoughts of God are not as our thoughts, nor His ways as our ways, for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His thoughts higher than ours. Your thoughts may run one way, and His run another, and there can be no peace or fellowship until your thoughts are conformed to His by faith. He watches our thoughts and He would have us hate vain thoughts and love His law. Thoughts of evil are in themselves evil, and even the dwelling upon another in a way that distracts the soul from Christ will bear bitter fruit.

Yet how precious are His thoughts toward you. From everlasting He has had thoughts of love toward His people, constant, kind, wise, tender and gracious. David said, How great is the sum of them, and when we awake we may still be with Him if we have been thinking upon Him through the night. The way to be delivered from thoughts that ensnare is not merely to strive to forget, but to be filled with better thoughts. Go to bed each night and wake up each morning with admiring thoughts of God's goodness and with adoring thoughts towards His greatness. Let your soul be a hive of them, laden with honey. Worship the Lord and think much of Him, and angels will come and go between you and the courts of the Most High.

Therefore wait upon the Lord, for they that wait upon Him shall renew their strength. Shut your door with nothing but your Bible, seek His face in prayer, and ask to be armed only with God's truth and backed by God's Spirit. You cannot make a dead heart alive by excitement or philosophy, nor can you master the mind by mere resolve, but He can. Bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. As it is written, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report, think on these things. Fill the vessel with the wind of the Spirit, set the helm by the chart of Scripture, and your course will be steered toward God and toward divine things.

Then go forward to renewed action. Undertake fresh work to a nobler tune, with more expectancy, more confidence, more faith, more God reliance, that your mind may be occupied with glorifying Him.

Let us pray for you. Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, who alone is the way of salvation, that Thou wouldst look upon this seeking soul with mercy. Purify the heart, govern the thoughts, and let Thy precious thoughts be precious to this one. Grant power to cast down imaginations and to dwell upon that which is holy. Renew strength in waiting upon Thee, give peace that passes all understanding, and keep this dear one in the path of holiness and obedience. Let Christ be the portion and the keeper of the mind, that waking and sleeping there may be nearness to Thee. In Jesus Christ's name we ask it. Amen.

Go in peace, and may the peace of God keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing it to the Lord. He knows the thoughts of our hearts even before we speak them, and He invites us to cast every care and every troubling thought upon Him.

Your desire to have peace in your mind is good. God has made us to have our minds renewed by His grace, not to be driven by restless thoughts. Scripture calls us to take every thought captive to obey Christ and to set our minds on whatever is true, pure and worthy of praise. When a thought about this person comes, turn it at once into prayer. Ask Christ to be your focus, to fill your heart with His presence and His word.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this person to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the heart and You see this struggle. Grant peace to this mind and strength to turn away from thoughts that disturb. Help to fix thoughts upon You, upon Your truth and Your love. Wash the heart, renew the mind, and give quietness and self control by Your Holy Spirit. Lead into what is good and pure, and guard the heart in Christ Jesus. Give wisdom for each day, and surround with fellowship and encouragement in Your word and in prayer. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

Keep seeking the Lord in prayer and in the Scriptures, stay busy in the good work He has given you, and walk closely with faithful believers who can encourage you. God is faithful and He will give you strength to walk in His peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
