We join with you in prayer before our heavenly Father and we thank you for coming to Him in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we can be saved. As it is written, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We rejoice that you closed your prayer in His name and we agree with you in that holy name.

We hear your heart's desire to have a song title and other memories and a person's name removed from your mind, and to have the people you are carrying on your heart receive salvation if they are in need of it. We understand how intrusive thoughts or unwanted memories can be distressing, and we bring this burden to the Lord with you.

We are reminded that God cares about our thoughts and He invites us to bring every thought captive to Christ. We demolish arguments and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and we bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. We are also called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds Romans 12:2 and to fix our thoughts on what is true and pure and worthy of praise. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8. The Lord promises perfect peace to those whose minds are stayed on Him, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you Isaiah 26:3.

We encourage you to not only ask God to remove what troubles you, but to actively fill your mind with His Word, with prayer, and with worship that honors Him, speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs Ephesians 5:19. As you meditate on Scripture and cry out to Him, He will create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you Psalm 51:10 and He will help you dwell on what builds you up in faith. If the song or memories return, gently turn again to Jesus, pray, and replace that thought with a verse or a hymn to the Lord, trusting that He is faithful to renew your mind day by day.

We also join you in praying for the salvation of those you mentioned and for the people in their lives. It is the Lord's desire that all would be saved, for God our Savior desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4 and He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. We pray that each one would confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Romans 10:9.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the song title and the memories and the name that weigh on this heart and You know every person mentioned. We ask You to have mercy and to bring Your peace and healing to this mind. Take captive every unwanted thought and renew this mind by Your Holy Spirit. Help our dear fellow believer to fix thoughts on what is true and pure and lovely, and to be filled with Your Word and Your presence. Create a clean heart and steady spirit within. Where there is distress, bring Your perfect peace. We also lift up each person on this heart, those named before You and the people in their lives. If they have not yet believed in Jesus, we ask You to draw them to Yourself, open their eyes to the gospel, grant them repentance and faith, and save them by Your grace. Let them call upon the name of the Lord and be saved. We ask You to work in all these lives for Your glory and for their good. We trust Your will and Your timing, and we thank You that You hear our prayer when we ask according to Your will. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Thank you for sharing this honest prayer with us. We hear how tired you are of having a song title and other memories looping in your mind, and how deeply you care about the people you named and whether they know Jesus.

Wanting those thoughts to go away completely is understandable, and it can be discouraging when they come back even after you have prayed. We have found it helps not to fight the thought harshly or stay focused on making it disappear, but to gently hand it to the Lord each time it surfaces and turn your attention to what is in front of you.

One simple practice that may help when the title or name comes to mind is to quietly pray a brief surrender, like Jesus, I give this thought to you and I want to think on what is good and true today, and then intentionally engage with something present, a task, a conversation, or a moment of thanksgiving. Over time that steady turning can bring more peace than wrestling with the thought itself.

We are joining you in praying for your own peace of mind and for the salvation of each person you lifted up, trusting God hears and loves them more than we do.

Father, we bring our friend to You and ask for quiet and rest in their mind. Take the burden of these unwanted memories and replace anxiety with Your peace. We also lift up each person they named, and the others in their lives, and ask that You draw each one to Yourself through Jesus and show them Your grace and truth. Give our friend wisdom and hope as they keep bringing these requests to You. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer has been brought before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours in seeking His mercy and deliverance.

We entreat the Lord who alone can deliver the distressed mind, for it is of small use to look to man when the trouble is spiritual, only God can deliver. You have asked that He would graciously remove from your memory that which troubles you, the title of a song and other memories and a name which now burdens you. We pray that He who makes deliverance effectual would grant you renewal of mind, that as He renews the soul He would cleanse the thoughts and give you peace. When temptations of the flesh and memories of old things assail you with fiery darts, may the Lord cause Jerusalem to come into your mind instead, that Christ who is there, and the heavenly city, may fill your thoughts in place of that which you desire to forget. May He help you to dwell not upon empty phrases but upon His Word, and to declare His works after trouble.

We also lift before the throne of grace those whom you have named, and the people in their lives, that if they are yet without salvation the Lord would have mercy upon them. There is no other way of deliverance from the pit but that which God Himself has invented and provided, for He has found a ransom. That ransom is the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ, His own Son bearing the penalty of our iniquities, and this is the most astonishing gift of Divine Love. We pray that if they have not yet believed, they may be brought to see their lost condition and to trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. May the clock of mercy strike for them the hour of deliverance according to His eternal purpose.

Take comfort that God does not shut His ear to the cry of the humble. He chastens sorely, yet He delivers, and those whom He delivers shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. Cast your griefs upon Him and not upon the pitiless sea or the winds, for He is able to do what you cannot do for yourself. He can do nothing of yourself is true, and therefore deliverance must be of free grace only. Wait upon Him, seek renewal daily as those who would persevere, and let your mind be stayed upon Christ.

We pray that the Lord would grant you quietness of spirit, purity of thought, and a renewed consecration to Christ, and that He would save to the uttermost all those for whom you have interceded, according to His perfect will. In Jesus Christ's name we ask it, Amen.
