We hear your humble and honest cry for forgiveness and we join you before the heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, thankful that you have come to Him in that precious name through which we have access and cleansing.

The Word assures us that God delights to forgive a contrite heart. It says in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And in Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. When we turn from what we have looked at with sincere repentance, He not only forgives but cleanses and removes the guilt. He also promises in Hebrews 10:17 I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.

We understand the weight of what it means to look at something impure. Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Our eyes are a gateway to our heart, and Job made a covenant with his eyes in Job 31:1. When we have allowed our eyes to linger where they should not, we need to confess it as sin and turn from it, asking God to create in us a clean heart as in Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

We pray together for you now. Heavenly Father we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who has confessed looking at what was not pure. We ask You to forgive and cleanse according to Your mercy. Wash away the stain of this sin by the blood of Jesus. Erase its power and guilt and renew the mind. Fill the heart with Your peace and help to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ as taught in 2 Corinthians 10:5. Create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within. Help to walk in purity and to guard the eyes and heart from this day forward. Let Your Holy Spirit bring strength to turn away quickly when temptation comes and to fix the mind on what is pure.

We encourage you to walk in the assurance that you are forgiven when you have confessed, and not to live under condemnation, for there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus as we read in Romans 8:1. At the same time we encourage you to be transformed by the renewing of your mind as in Romans 12:2 and to set your thoughts on what is true and pure as in Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. If the image lingers in your memory, do not fight it alone but immediately bring it to Jesus in prayer, replace it with Scripture, worship, or wholesome activity, and if needed share with a trusted mature Christian believer for accountability. God is able to keep you and to restore your joy as you walk closely with Him each day.

We appreciate your honesty in bringing this to the Lord so directly. Wanting Him to forgive and to wash it away is a good and humble place to come from, and we are grateful you brought it to Him.

It makes sense that after looking at something you wish you hadn't, you might feel stuck with the image or the guilt hanging over you. Coming quickly to God, as you did, is the right way to respond rather than carrying it alone or trying to hide it.

One simple help for the days ahead is to have a clear, quick plan for the moment temptation comes again. Deciding beforehand to close it right away, step away from the screen, and turn your attention to something else can keep a brief glance from becoming longer. If you notice this happening often, it can also help to talk quietly with a trusted pastor or mature Christian you respect, not for shame, but for steady support and accountability.

Father, we bring this friend before You and thank You that You hear when we turn to You through Jesus. We ask You to grant a clear sense of Your forgiveness and to quiet shame, and to give help to walk in purity and peace in the days ahead. Give strength to turn away quickly and wisdom for each step forward. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your prayer has come before the throne of grace and it is good that you have brought it there, for there is forgiveness with God that you may be feared.

Hear the word of the Lord, I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. This is a divine forgiveness, and a surprising forgiveness, and a complete forgiveness. It is not given because your sin is small, nor withheld because your sin is great, for God forgives not on account of the sinner but for His own sake and for the sake of His Son who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. Where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. There is forgiveness, whatever your sin may have been, and there is forgiveness now, at this moment, through Jesus Christ His Son.

If by faith you can believe in the sin forgiving God and accept the matchless atonement which covers all guilt, then you are among the blessed, for blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered, unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity. The Lord promises oblivion to all your debt when you come and put your trust in Christ. He not only forgave at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, and the forgiveness which He gives for Christ's sake is an eternal forgiveness.

Yet take care that your repentance be of the holy, heavenly sort which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit. There is a carnal repentance that trembles under fear and then returns to the sin again, but true repentance gives God glory. It says, Lord, I have no claim upon Thee, I have no right but the right to be punished, yet I appeal to Thy mercy in Christ Jesus. It looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only. Such repentance weeps and abhors past sin because of the love of Christ which has pardoned it, and it avoids present sin because of the love of God who died for us. Repentance and faith are inseparable. The one purges the soul from dead works and the other fills it with living works.

When the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile. At the very same time that blessedness is bestowed, the forgiven man undergoes a change of nature. He cultivates heart searching and practices daily repentance. He desires a lowly estimate of himself because self abhorrence endears Christ to his heart as the great Saviour of unworthy ones. He seeks after perfect purity of life and lives in the presence of God, remembering the all seeing eye. He keeps himself unspotted from the world, for charity without purity will be of no use, and without holiness no man shall see the Lord.

You ask that the Lord would kindly erase what you have looked upon. He does blot out sin as a thick cloud when it is confessed and forsaken, and He remembers it no more. But lust, when it is entertained, conceives and brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death. Therefore flee that which defiles the eye and the heart. Make a covenant with your eyes, keep far from the place of temptation, and walk in the Spirit who lifts you into familiarity with God and makes you partaker of the Divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Do you tremble and desire forgiveness with a penitent heart, then come now to Christ. Confess plainly without guile, forsake the evil, and trust wholly in His blood. Pray thus, Lord, forgive me for Jesus sake, cleanse me from this sin, and keep me by Thy grace that I may delight in purity and in Thy presence. He will hear, He will cleanse, and He will keep.

May the Lord grant you a true sight of your sin and a truer sight of your Saviour, and may evangelical repentance, which is the fruit of the gospel of forgiveness, abound in you, that you may walk henceforth in newness of life to His glory.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this honest prayer. God hears the heart that turns to Him in repentance and He is faithful to forgive.

Scripture says blessed are those whose sins are forgiven and whose sins are covered, and that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness through Jesus Christ. Forgiveness does not come by washing the body or by trying to forget on our own, but by the grace of God which is the remission of sins and cleansing through the blood of Christ alone. He alone bore our sins and carried them to the Father that we might be forgiven.

You asked Him to erase what you saw, and He desires purity within, not only outward cleanliness. He says blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God, and He calls us to worship Him in spirit and in truth, offering our whole selves to Him. This means turning away from what corrupts the soul and asking Him to create in us a clean heart and to wash our hearts from wickedness.

We pray with you now. Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to forgive what was looked upon, to cover it by Your grace, to cleanse the heart and mind, and to help turn away from whatever leads back to it. Fill this heart with Your Spirit, keep Your grace abiding through a life of purity and good conscience, and give strength to walk in truth and to fix the mind on what is pure and holy. Amen.

If this temptation returns, bring it quickly to God in prayer, turn your eyes away, and fill your mind with Scripture and with what builds purity. God is able to keep you and to make you stand in His grace.
