We join with you in bringing this humble cry for forgiveness before our heavenly Father, and we thank you for coming in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We do not know the details of what weighs on your heart, but God knows all things and sees the sincerity of a repentant heart. We are reminded of His promise in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And in Psalm 103:12, As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. When we come honestly before Him, confessing and turning away from what has grieved Him, He does not merely overlook our sin, He washes it away completely through the blood of Jesus.

We encourage you to bring that specific thing before the Lord plainly in prayer, naming it before Him, and to repent, which means to turn away from it and walk in obedience going forward. As it says in Acts 3:19, Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord. And we hold to the beautiful invitation in Isaiah 1:18, Come now, and let us reason together, says Yahweh: Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who seeks Your forgiveness. Lord, You know the sin that burdens this heart, even when it is spoken of only as something. We ask that You search and know this heart and grant true repentance and faith. Forgive, cleanse, and restore according to Your mercy. Help this one to receive Your forgiveness fully and to walk in newness of life, forsaking what is wrong and pursuing holiness through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Give peace and assurance that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and let there be times of refreshing in Your presence. Strengthen this dear one to walk closely with You, to read Your Word daily and to grow in obedience and joy. We thank You that Your grace is sufficient and Your love endures forever. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to rest in the assurance that when God forgives, He remembers your sin no more. Do not carry guilt that Christ has already carried on the cross. Walk forward in the freedom He gives, and if this sin involves another person, seek to make things right where you can in humility and love. Keep drawing near to Jesus, for He is faithful to keep you and to complete the good work He has begun in you.

We heard your simple, honest prayer and we are joining you in it. Coming to the Father just as you did, asking for forgiveness in Jesus' name, is exactly where He invites us to come.

Sometimes a burden feels vague or heavy and we are not sure how to put it into words. What has helped many of us is to take a few quiet minutes alone and tell God plainly what is on our heart, what we did or left undone, and ask not only for His forgiveness but for His help to turn and walk a different way going forward. Confession is less about informing God and more about freeing our own heart so we can heal and be changed. If that weight stays with you, it can also help to share it confidentially with a trusted pastor who can pray with you in person.

You do not have to carry this alone. God hears a sincere, humble prayer like yours.

Father, we bring our brother before You and thank You that we can come to You through Jesus. Please forgive what weighs on his conscience, wash his heart clean, and give him assurance of Your mercy. Help him to walk forward in Your grace and strength today. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your simple prayer has been heard, and it is a precious prayer indeed. If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand, but there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.

Do not think that repentance is a thing done once and then forgotten. Repentance lives as long as faith, and sweet sister repentance is charming company all the way to the gates of pearl. The Lord loves an honest confession, for confession must come before absolution. Cast yourself upon the mercy of your Judge and you shall find mercy, but first acknowledge that you need mercy.

You have done well to come in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is forgiveness with God through Him alone. It is not for the sake of your tears or your sorrow, but for His own sake, because He delighteth in mercy. He saith, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. When the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile, and the most honest confession is that which falls from the believer's lips when he gazes upon the fountain filled with blood, drawn from Immanuel's veins.

Therefore make a clean breast before Him. Do not hide your sin or strain your conscience to hush its voice. Tell Him plainly what that something is, for He already sees it. True repentance gives God glory and says, Lord, I have no claim upon thee, I have only the right to be punished, yet have mercy upon me according to thy lovingkindness, according to the multitude of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. He has no buts in His forgiveness. You may have said, I forgive but I will not trust again, not so the Lord. When you confess, He absolves and will remember your sin no more.

Be assured, whatever that sin may have been, however great or grievous, there is forgiveness now, at this moment, for you through the precious blood of Christ. He not only forgave at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, and His forgiveness is an eternal forgiveness. Do not believe the lie that you are past mercy, for that is a foul insult to the infinite mercy of God. He can save you though your sins be as black as hell, if you look out of self to Christ and to Christ only.

We pray for you now, that you may know this blessedness. Heavenly Father, have mercy upon this soul according to thy lovingkindness. Blot out transgressions for thine own sake, through the blood of thy dear Son Jesus Christ. Give true repentance that looks to Christ alone, and faith that rests in His finished work, and grant the joy of full and free pardon. Let this soul hear thy gentle whisper, there is forgiveness, and fear and love thee more than ever. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
