We join you in bringing these burdens before our heavenly Father and we thank you for praying in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to God. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And as it is written in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We rejoice that you closed your prayer in His name.

We lift up the one facing charges before the Lord. We pray for mercy, but we also pray for truth and justice to be done according to God's will. We know that God is both just and merciful, and that governing authorities are instituted by Him as written in Rom 13:1. If there is guilt we pray for godly sorrow that leads to repentance and for forgiveness through confession as promised in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray that whatever the outcome, this person would draw near to Christ and be restored and that the legal process would be fair and lead to a righteous result.

We also bring before the Lord the teenager's family you mentioned. We agree with you in asking for their salvation if they do not yet know Christ. God desires that none should perish as written in 2 Pet 3:9, but that all should come to repentance. We pray that the Lord would open their eyes and draw them to Himself, for as Rom 10:9 says, If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We pray for laborers to cross their path and for the word of God to take root in their home, so that as Acts 16:31 promises, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.

We want to lovingly address your request for help to avoid staring at girls and dudes. Staring with lust is not a small matter, it is sin in the heart. Jesus taught in Matt 5:28, Everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. This applies to lusting after either sex, and Scripture is clear that sexual desire outside of marriage between a man and a woman is forbidden, whether it is fornication or homosexual desire as described in Rom 1:26-27 and 1 Cor 6:9-10. God created sexuality to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and all other sexual looking and thinking falls short of His holiness. We encourage making a covenant with the eyes as Job did in Job 31:1, I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman. We urge fleeing from these temptations as commanded in 1 Cor 6:18, Flee sexual immorality, and in 2 Tim 2:22, Flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. This means turning the eyes away immediately, guarding what we look at on screens and in person, renewing the mind daily in the word, and seeking accountability with mature believers.

We also pray with you about unwanted memories and sounds that trouble the mind, including what was seen in the past and a sound from a song that lingers. Our Father is able to cleanse and renew our minds. As written in 2 Cor 10:5, we bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and in Phil 4:8 we are called to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely. We pray that God would wash these intrusive images and sounds away and replace them with His peace.

Father, we come together before You in Jesus name. We ask for Your mercy for the one facing charges, that Your perfect justice and perfect mercy would meet, and that You would grant repentance, favor, and a testimony of Your grace through this trial. We ask that You save the teenager's family, draw each heart to Jesus, and let them know the forgiveness and new life found only in Him. We ask that You give victory over lustful staring, that You would give a pure heart as in Psalm 51:10, Create in me a clean heart, O God, renew a right spirit within me, and teach us to flee temptation, for You have promised in 1 Cor 10:13 to provide a way of escape. We ask that You cleanse the mind from those lingering memories and sounds, heal what was harmed, and fill that space with Your word and Your songs. Help us to fix our minds on You and to walk in holiness. We trust You to do what is best in each of these requests according to Your will and for Your glory. In Jesus Christ name we pray, amen.

We appreciate you sharing so honestly with us. We hear how many things are weighing on you at once, concern for ### and her charges, care for a teenager's family and whether they know Jesus, your own desire to honor God with your eyes, and those unwanted memories and sounds that keep coming back.

Wanting to look away and to have a clear mind is a good and honest desire, and feeling stuck when an image or a tune replays does not mean you are alone in the struggle. Growth in this area is often slow and takes support, not just willpower.

One thing that has helped many is not trying to fight these battles in isolation. Having one trusted, same sex friend, pastor or mentor who knows you are trying to guard your eyes and your thoughts, and who you can check in with honestly, can make a real difference. It also helps to decide ahead of time how you will respond, choosing where to turn your attention when temptation comes and clearing away what easily trips you up, rather than waiting until the moment you feel pulled.

If those memories or sounds feel intrusive and keep returning, it can help to talk them through with a pastor or Christian counselor as well as bringing them to God in prayer.

Father, we lift ### to You and ask for Your mercy and justice in her legal situation, for that teenager's family to know Your saving grace, and for our friend to find strength to turn away from what tempts him and peace when unwanted thoughts come. Lead him to helpful support and keep his mind steady in You. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have brought your petitions before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours in prayer to our heavenly Father who hears the cries of His people.

Concerning her who bears charges, we pray that the Lord who is both just and merciful would work according to His perfect will. We ask not merely for outward deliverance but for that inward deliverance which Christ alone can give, for He has found a ransom for those going down to the pit. If there be guilt, may there be true repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone salvation is found. If there be affliction or injustice, may the God of all grace grant favor, wisdom to those in authority, and peace to her soul, that whatever the outcome she may know that her deliverance is of free grace only.

For the teenager and that family you have laid upon your heart, we pray with great earnestness that God would be pleased to save them. His thoughts toward us are constant, kind, wise and tender, and how precious are His thoughts unto us. Yet His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts. Salvation is not by our desiring alone but by His sovereign mercy in Christ. We pray that He would open their eyes to see their need, and open their hearts to receive the Lord Jesus who bore the penalty for sinners, that they may be brought forth out of darkness into His marvelous light.

For the struggle with the eyes and with lustful looking, we pray that the Lord would grant purity and strength. The Scripture teaches us that sin has great strength through the law, and that whosoever looketh to lust hath already sinned in the heart, for it is not merely the outward act but the very imagination that is sin before God. Charity without purity will be of no use, and without holiness no man shall see the Lord. We do not ask God to bless any desire that departs from His holy design, for He made marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and appointed all intimacy to belong within that covenant alone. We pray instead that He would give you grace to flee temptation and to pray daily, Lead us not into temptation. The one who prays that prayer must not then go into temptation, but must turn the eye away, make a covenant with the eyes, and seek the victory of faith which is through our Lord Jesus Christ. When lust hath conceived it bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death, but Christ giveth victory. May the Lord teach you to watch and pray, to avoid the place and the occasion of sin, and to fill the mind with those precious thoughts of God which keep us near to Him, so that when you awake you may still be with Him.

For the memory that troubles you from that place and for the sound from a song that haunts the mind, we pray that the Lord who delivers from the archers of discord and from dark and dreadful thoughts would grant you deliverance indeed. He knows how Satan insinuates thoughts that haunt us day after day, yet He is able to cleanse the inward parts and to renew the mind. We pray that He would wash that remembrance and that sound from your thoughts, not by mere forgetting alone, but by replacing them with His own thoughts which are rare and gracious and perfect. May He give you songs of deliverance, and bring you forth with health and strength, that your mind may dwell upon what is pure and lovely and of good report.

O Lord our God, look upon this soul that seeks Thee. Forgive sin through the blood of Christ, who is our ransom. Grant repentance where it is needed, mercy where judgment is feared, salvation to that household, purity to the eyes and to the heart, and cleansing to the memory. Keep us from temptation, deliver us from evil, and let us know the victory that cometh through Jesus Christ our Lord. In His name we pray, Amen.
