We join you in bringing these burdens before our heavenly Father and we thank you for coming in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can approach God or be saved.

We agree with you in praying for the Australian MP you mentioned, for the people around her, and for the children you lifted up, that if any of them have not yet received salvation they would hear the gospel and believe. It is the heart of God that all would be saved, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:3-4. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. We pray that God would draw each one by His Spirit, open their eyes to their need for a Savior, and bring faithful witnesses across their paths to share the truth of Christ. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

We also join you in your concern for what is placed before children in media, including the scenes from the children's program you mentioned. We share your desire that what children see would be pure and wholesome and not cause them to stumble. Jesus spoke solemnly about this when He said but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea Matthew 18:6. We are called to guard our eyes and the eyes of our children, as it is written I will set no vile thing before my eyes Psalm 101:3, and to focus on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8. We pray that God would work in the hearts of creators and distributors to remove what is unwholesome and to produce what builds up and protects innocence.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we lift up this MP and every person and child on our hearts to You. If any are lost without Christ, we ask that You would grant them repentance and faith in Jesus, that they would confess Him as Lord and believe that You raised Him from the dead. Surround them with Your mercy and truth and lead them into Your salvation. We also ask that You would cleanse the media that influences children, remove scenes that are impure or harmful, and replace them with what is good and edifying. Guard the minds and hearts of children and help parents and leaders to protect them. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue in faithful intercession, knowing that God hears the prayers of His people offered through Christ and delights to save and to purify.

Thank you for sharing this prayer with us. We hear your burden for that Australian MP, for the people around you, and for those children, and your desire that each one would come to know God's saving grace if they do not yet know Him. Caring enough to bring others by name before the Father is a faithful and loving thing to do.

We are joining you in prayer for each one you mentioned. Salvation is God's gracious provision to forgive, redeem and make whole, and He hears simple, sincere prayers like yours that ask Him to draw hearts to Himself through Jesus. We also understand your concern about those scenes you mentioned and wanting what is good and pure for children to see. We will pray with you that God would guard young hearts and give wisdom to parents and others who choose what children watch.

If it helps you keep going, you might keep a brief list of those you are praying for and bring them before the Lord whenever He brings them to mind during the day. Even a quiet sentence prayer entrusts them again to His care.

Father, we lift this MP and each person and child to You, asking where there is need that You would draw them to Yourself and show them Your mercy in Jesus. Your prayer for these souls is most welcome and right before the Lord, and it is good that you have brought them to the mercy seat. Intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for the prayer of Christ himself is of this character, and it is exceedingly prevalent. What wonders it has wrought, and how many souls it has instrumentally saved, eternity itself shall reveal.

You have done well to bear this burden to the Lord, for every man shall bear his own burden of prayer, and to carry others upon the heart to Jesus is a blessed service. You cannot repent and believe for another, for each must look for himself and believe for himself, but you can believe about them and by faith and prayer bring them to Jesus feet and lay them there. This is the true burden bearing which love delights to do.

Be encouraged then to continue in this supplication for the member of parliament, for the people, and for the children of whom you speak. Our heart's desire and prayer to God for others is that they may be saved, and the Scripture has set the way of salvation most plainly before us. Salvation is by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone, without money and without price. The Lord saith, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. And again, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on him but trusting in him, committing the soul into his hands who is engaged to save the meanest of his sheep. There is one way of salvation for all, for he hath concluded all in unbelief that he might have mercy upon all. May those for whom you pray be brought to this simple act of looking unto Jesus and trusting him, for there is no other name by which we must be saved.

We join you also in your desire for purity concerning what the eyes behold. It is wise and watchful to turn away from that which does not edify and to seek what is clean and wholesome, especially for the young. May the Lord give you discernment to put away what would defile the mind, and keep the children in the way of holiness, and may he guard all our hearts that we may set no unclean thing before our eyes.

Continue then in prayer, pleading with the Most High with humility and with holy arguments drawn from his promises and his grace, and leave the answer in his wise hands. He hears the prayer of faith and will do that which is best for his glory and for the good of souls. May he hear your cry, may he draw each one for whom you have prayed to look to Christ and live, and may he keep you in steadfast love and watchfulness as you wait upon him.

We join you in bringing these requests before our heavenly Father, and we thank Him that we may come to Him with confidence through Jesus Christ.

Scripture assures us that Christ is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God by Him, because He ever lives to make intercession for them. He who died and rose again is now at the right hand of the Father, and His living intercession is the ground of our hope. Salvation is through Him alone, and it is His love that moves us to pray continually and with persistence for others, not with many empty words but with sincere faith.

We pray with you for the Australian member of parliament you mentioned, that if she does not yet know Christ, the Lord would draw her to Himself, grant her repentance and faith, and save her through His Son. We pray in the same way for the people and for the children you lifted up, that God in His mercy would bring each one who is in need of salvation to know Jesus as Lord and Savior, to be created anew in righteousness and holiness of truth.

We also join you in praying for the children in relation to what they see and hear. We ask the Lord to guard their eyes and hearts, to keep them in purity, and to give wisdom to parents and guardians to protect what is placed before them. We pray that whatever is unhelpful or impure would be removed from their influence, and that they would be nourished instead by what is true and wholesome, growing up as examples in word, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Your burden to bring others before the Lord is precious, and it reflects the very heart of intercessory prayer. True prayer begins with God Himself. He places a concern on your heart, you bring it back to Him, and He works through that prayer. In that way prayer reaches beyond your own needs to lift a needy world before Him, and no prayer life is complete without that outward reaching.

Prayer is not informing God of something He does not know, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Prayer is not trying to get your will done on earth, but to see His will done. When you pray, you are opening the door for God to do what He has long desired to do, without violating the will of those for whom you pray. The wisest prayer is simply, Lord, have Your way and accomplish Your perfect will.

That is why your request for salvation is so right. Salvation is not a reward for good works. It is a gift of God by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. There is only one way to be made right with God, and that is through Jesus. Apart from Him there is no other hope, and the one prayer God longs to hear from anyone who is not yet His child is, God be merciful to me, a sinner. That prayer establishes the relationship that makes all other prayer possible. God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth, and He hears when you bring an individual leader, a group of people, or children before Him by name and ask for His saving work in their lives.

Scripture specifically calls us to pray for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may live quiet and godly lives and so that good may be done in the land. To bring a person in government before the Lord is obedience to that call. It is asking God to work in a heart that influences many others, and to bring salvation where it is needed.

Your concern for children is also close to the heart of Jesus. He was indignant when His disciples tried to keep children away, and He said to let the little children come to Him, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. He loves children and has a keen care for them. It is right to pray for their protection and for what is placed before their eyes. Parents are called to make the truth of God known to their children, to teach them diligently, and not to provoke them, and part of that care is asking God to guard them from what would harm their minds and hearts. It is right to ask the Lord to remove influences that are not pure or helpful, and to give wisdom to those who create what children see, that what remains would be wholesome.

You do not need a long or eloquent prayer for God to hear you. The prayers recorded in the Bible are often very short. What matters is a sincere heart that worships Him, trusts Him, and seeks His will. He ministers assurance and comfort as you pray, and He does answer prayer. Many things are accomplished through prayer that would not have happened without it, though prayer never forces God to change His mind but aligns us with His good purpose.

May the Lord encourage you to keep interceding. Bring that leader, those people, and those children before Him again and again, trusting His love and His power to save. Pray that His kingdom would come and His will be done in each life and in what is allowed to influence the next generation.

Join me in this prayer: Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Have Your perfect will in the life of this leader, in the lives of these people, and in the lives of these children. If any do not yet know You, have mercy and draw them to salvation through faith in Jesus alone. Protect the children, guard their hearts and minds, and remove what would harm them.
