We pray the same for every person in her life, her family, her friends and all those she loves, that none would perish but that all would come to repentance and faith. Grant them ears to hear and hearts to believe that Jesus died for their sins and rose again. Give those who know You opportunities to share the good news with them with love and boldness. Your prayer for this soul and for those around her is a very right and precious thing, for it shows a heart that desires what God Himself desires, that sinners should be saved.
Be assured that the gospel still proclaims a free salvation, without money and without price. It is salvation by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone. The Lord Himself says, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. And the Scripture says, Whoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. There is no other system which promises sure and present salvation, for Christ is not only a Saviour, He is salvation itself, and there is salvation in none other.
It is good that you have brought this girl before the Lord, and those who are dear to her and near to her life. Household salvation is a blessing to be sought, and we may pray that as the Lord visits one heart, He will visit the whole circle round about. He that has begun to care for one will care also for the rest, for He delights to show mercy.
Continue to plead for them. Never cease to pray for them until they have ceased to sin, never cease to hope for them until they have ceased to live. Plead the name of Jesus, for it is for His name's sake that the Father pardons iniquity. There must be no reliance upon our own excellence, but a begging for grace and mercy, and upon those terms the Lord will meet with us.
Let us pray together for them. Heavenly Father, we bring before Thee this dear one and all who are connected with her. If any among them are yet without Christ, look upon them in mercy. Grant them repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Cause them to look unto Jesus and live, to believe with the heart unto righteousness and to confess with the mouth unto salvation. Save them by Thy grace alone, through the blood and merits of Thy Son, that they may know Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. As the Scriptures show, the Lord rejoices greatly over one sinner who repents, more than over many who need no repentance, and He left the ninety nine to seek the one who was lost. So we pray that He would seek and save each of these souls.
Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You would save this young woman if she is not yet Yours, and save her family, her friends, and all those in her life who are outside of Christ. Your prayer for this girl and for the people in her life is beautiful because it reaches beyond your own needs and brings others before God. That is what intercession is. It is love that looks outward and asks God to work in a guilty world. More is done through that kind of praying than we will ever see on the surface. It is the quiet power behind what God does.
That burden you feel for souls is a good burden and it comes from the Lord. We do not naturally carry it enough on our own, and we can ask Him to give us more of it. His heart is for the lost. Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost, and His name itself declares that God has become our salvation. Each of us was born in sin, shaped in iniquity, and death passed to all because all have sinned. We cannot save ourselves and we cannot face the judgment for our sin on our own. Jesus took that judgment on the cross so that through faith in Him we can be forgiven and have life. That is the salvation you are asking for, and it is exactly what God desires to give.
Prayer rests on relationship. When we have come to God through Jesus, we can truly say Father and know His ear is open to our cry. For those who are not yet His children, the one prayer He is waiting to hear is, God be merciful to me, a sinner. That prayer opens the door to relationship, and then the whole life of prayer is opened. So as you pray for this girl and for those around her, you are asking that they would come to that place of mercy and faith in Jesus Christ alone, and that they would enter into life as children of God.
Prayer also changes us while we pray. It does not change God into someone different, it brings us into agreement with what He already wants to do. In that sense prayer is consenting to God, giving Him permission in our hearts to do the work He longs to do. As you pray, the Spirit can take hold of your heart, give you assurance and comfort, and prepare you to be part of His answer. Scripture says the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and that when we agree together concerning a matter, God hears. You are not praying alone.
Living for ourselves is a heavy burden that wears us down. Trying to please ourselves never satisfies and in the end it becomes intolerable. Jesus invites us to take His yoke and learn from Him, and He says His yoke is easy and His burden is light. His burden was to please the Father. That is the most satisfying and joyful life there is, to live for God's glory and to wake each day expecting what He will do.
So continue to bring this girl and her loved ones before the Lord. Ask Him to draw each one who needs salvation to Jesus, to open their eyes to their need, and to give them repentance and faith. Ask Him to increase your own love and burden for them and to show you how to love them well. And commit your own life again to please Him, trusting that His way is light and good.
