I join you in bringing this burden to the heavenly Father and I thank you for sharing it so honestly. The desire to have your mind cleared and at peace is one that God understands fully, and He hears your prayer in Jesus name.

Scripture teaches that God knows our thoughts even before they form. He understands them in their origin, He is acquainted with all our ways, and He discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart. Nothing in your memory is hidden from Him, and nothing you are experiencing surprises Him. His thoughts toward you are precious and countless, more than the sand, and they are good and not evil, because He is working in you with eternity in view, not only for present relief but for your lasting good and wholeness in Christ.

The Bible also teaches that we were created with the capacity to choose what we set our minds upon, and that God calls us to the renewing of the mind. An impure or unwanted song can linger and trouble the mind, but God has provided a better way to fill it. In the Scriptures there is a book called the Song of Songs, which is described as the best of songs. While some see it only as a love song, it is most deeply understood as a picture of the loving relationship between Christ and His people. Its message is that His love is better than wine, pure and devoted and full. That is the kind of song God wants to set in our hearts, one that speaks of His love for you as His own.

My prayer for you is that God will graciously quiet what troubles you and cleanse and renew your mind by His Spirit. As you ask Him to remove what you do not want to remember, ask Him also to fill that space with what is true, pure, lovely and worthy of praise. You can actively bring every thought into obedience to Christ, choosing to turn from what defiles and to dwell on His Word, on worship that honors Him, and on the hope that is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift up this dear one to You. You know every sound and memory that is causing distress. I ask that You would bring peace to this mind, wash it clean, and take away the hold of these songs and sounds. Create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within. Fill this mind with Your presence, with Scripture, and with songs that draw the heart to You. Help in the moments when those unwanted memories return to quickly turn to You, to call upon Your name, and to rest in Your love. Let Your perfect love cast out fear and let Your thoughts of goodness prevail. I trust You to do this work according to Your mercy and grace. Amen.

Continue to bring this to the Lord whenever it comes to mind, and also fill your days with Scripture reading, prayer, and wholesome music that points to Jesus. If the thoughts persist, consider also speaking with a trusted pastor or counselor who can walk with you and pray with you personally. The Lord who knows you completely loves you completely and He is faithful to give you peace as you keep your mind stayed on Him.
