We join you in this cry for deliverance and we thank you for coming to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we are saved and cleansed. As it is written, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13.

Your desire to be delivered from the knowledge of sexual sin is pleasing to God, for He desires purity of heart and mind for His children. We understand how heavy and defiling the memory and awareness of sexual sin can be, whether from what we have seen, heard, done, or what has been done around us. The enemy wants to keep our minds captive to those images and thoughts, but God has made a way for us to be washed and renewed.

Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality and to guard our minds. Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. God designed sexual intimacy as holy and good only within the lifelong marriage covenant between one man and one woman, and any sexual activity outside of that, whether in thought, sight, or deed, is sin that wounds our soul and grieves Him. Yet when we confess and turn from it, He is faithful to cleanse us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.

The Lord does not only forgive, He renews the mind. Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2. We are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to set our minds on what is pure. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8.

We encourage you to continue to guard your eyes and ears, to remove sources of temptation, to fill your mind daily with the Word of God, and to walk in fellowship with other faithful believers who will encourage you toward purity. God promises, Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me Psalm 51:10 and Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God Matthew 5:8.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who longs to be delivered from the knowledge of sexual sin. Lord, wash this mind and heart with the blood of Jesus. Forgive every sin that has defiled the conscience and cleanse every memory and image that lingers. Create in this heart a new cleanness and renew a right spirit within. Take captive every impure thought and replace it with Your truth, Your purity, and Your peace. Help this dear one to flee every form of sexual immorality and to hate what You hate and love what You love. Fill this mind with whatever is true, pure, and lovely, and lead this life in holiness and in the hope of a godly marriage if it is Your will, where intimacy is kept holy as You designed. Strengthen this dear one to walk in victory, to resist the devil and he will flee, and to stand firm by the power of Your Holy Spirit. We thank You that You are the God who restores innocence and makes us new creations in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear the honesty in your short prayer and we are joining you in it. Asking God to deliver you from the knowledge and weight of sexual sin is a humble, good desire and He hears you when you ask.

We know those memories and thoughts can feel like they cling even when you want to be free of them. Wanting to be clean before the Lord is not something you have to carry by yourself. Freedom often grows as we keep turning to Jesus day by day and making small, faithful choices with His help, and He is patient with you in that walk.

A next step that helps many is to not stay isolated with this. If there is a trusted pastor or mature Christian you respect, consider sharing this struggle with him this week and asking him to pray with you and check in with you regularly. Having one safe person who knows what you are asking God for can make it easier to stay on the path you want, especially when temptation feels strong. If certain screens, places, or late-night hours tend to pull you back, putting a clear boundary there can also protect the freedom you are seeking.

Father, we lift this dear one to You right now. Wash and renew their mind, quiet what still haunts them, and give them strength to walk in purity. Lead them to faithful support and keep them close to You each day. We ask this in the name of Jesus, amen.

The cry for deliverance from sexual sin is one which the Lord delights to hear, and He is mighty to save. You have done well to bring this burden before Him, for deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.

Scripture warns us that when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death, and there shall never enter into Heaven anything that defiles. We must from day to day fight against sin till it is utterly put away from us, and keep ourselves unspotted from the world. At first when sin catches us in its net, it is with the tiniest spider's cobwebs that can scarcely be seen, and they seem as though you could break from them in a moment, but they sin until their sin engenders a second nature. Therefore we must not pretend that we can wallow in the mire of open sin or secret sin and yet belong to Christ, for that cannot be.

Yet there is a glorious hope. Our Lord Jesus Christ bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we being dead to sin should live unto righteousness. In some wondrous sense He bore the sin as well as the punishment, though in Him was no sin, that He might put sin away for us and move us to put away sin from us. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification. When a soul sensible of sin sees that Christ by His blood made atonement and throws himself upon that Sacrifice of the Cross, then sin is pardoned, and because the sin is pardoned, the forgiven sinner is grateful and says, I will not go on in this sin.

It is written, If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. Whenever we have been overtaken by temptation and our heart smites us, we fall upon our knees and acknowledge our fault and confess our sin, and He lifts up upon us once more the light of His countenance. Our Father's anger with our sin will never blaze into wrath against us, though in mercy He will smite our sins. He chastens us not to punish us according to the law, but to cure us of wrongdoing and to bring us to a clearer knowledge of the evil of sin. Unless a supernatural power is put forth in it, any form of deliverance is worth nothing. You must be born again from above if you are to go above, and there is no true liberty but that of which Christ makes you free.

We pray for you now, that the Lord who found a ransom and delivered His people when the lamb was slain would deliver you effectually. May He wash you thoroughly from iniquity and cleanse you from sin, make you dead to the condemning power and the alluring power of sin, and alive unto holiness. May He keep you unspotted, strengthen you to walk in the light, to flee every appearance of evil, and to live in purity as one who shall declare the works of the Lord. Look simply to Jesus and trust Him, for He has said, I have found a ransom, and He is faithful to perfect the deliverance He has begun, in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
