We join you in bringing this request before our heavenly Father in Jesus' name and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the throne of grace.

We hear your heart crying out for peace, for quiet from distracting sounds of music and for deliverance from fits of anger, and we bring both needs to the Lord together.

The Word tells us that anger itself must be handled with great care, for human anger does not produce the righteousness of God. We are told in James 1:19-20 to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God. And in Eph 4:26-27 we are exhorted, Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, and don't give place to the devil. Fits of anger, or outbursts of wrath, are listed among the works of the flesh that we are called to put away, while self-control and patience are fruit of the Spirit as we see in Gal 5:22-23. He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city, Prov 16:32. So we must confess anger quickly, repent of it, and ask God to replace it with His peace and gentleness.

Regarding music, we want to gently encourage you that not all music is displeasing to God. Scripture calls us to worship Him with music, Let everything that has breath praise Yah, Ps 150:6, and to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in our hearts to God, Col 3:16. If the music you are hearing is worldly, loud, distracting, or stirring up unrest and temptation, it is right to ask God for quiet and for protection from its influence. If it is simply a noise that tests your patience, we pray God will give you His peace that surpasses understanding to guard your heart and mind.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask You to pour out Your peace upon our dear one who is troubled by noise and by struggles with anger. Lord, quiet the sounds that are causing distress and distraction, and if there are worldly influences in that music that do not honor You, we ask You to remove their power and to set a hedge of protection around this heart and home. Fill this place instead with Your presence and with whatever silence or godly sound brings rest. Father, we confess that fits of anger do not reflect Your character and we ask You to forgive us for every outburst and unkind thought. Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control may grow in us. Help us to be slow to anger and quick to forgive, just as You have forgiven us in Christ. When irritation rises, remind us to cast our cares upon You in prayer, that Your peace which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and our thoughts in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:6-7. Teach us to rule our spirit and to respond with grace rather than react in wrath. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We hear your desire for quiet and for relief from anger, and we are joining you in prayer for that peace.

It is exhausting when unwanted sound keeps intruding and when anger flares up quickly. Often that flare is like a signal, pointing to something tender underneath such as feeling hurt, frustrated, or worried. Noticing what was happening right before the anger rose can make it easier to bring the real need to God rather than just wrestling the anger itself.

One simple practice that helps many is to quietly note in the moment what triggered the feeling, what you were thinking, and how you responded. Even a few words on paper or on your phone can show patterns over a few days and give you clearer words to pray.

We also hear your longing for quiet from music. If you can, creating a short pocket of stillness in your day, perhaps with a door closed or a brief walk, can give your mind a chance to rest with the Lord.

Father, we lift this need to You. Bring calm where there is noise and unrest, soften the surge of anger with Your peace, and help our friend sense Your nearness and guidance day by day. Give wisdom for next steps and rest for the heart. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your desire for quietness and for deliverance from fits of anger is a need which the Lord Himself delights to meet, for He is the God of peace. It is well to seek the calm retreat, the silent shade, where the soul may muse upon His mercy, for we are hurrying here and there and thinking very little, and we would be better men and women if we were more alone with God. Whether to free ourselves from the stress of outward noise or to escape from the temptations that stir within, musing has sweet charms and calm reflection is capable of kindling a bright fire.

Yet there is a peace more precious than mere outward silence. The peace which this world can give is often a false peace, when conscience is made to lie still while sin remains upon it. As well might the ocean be quiet while a tempest is raging. True peace is not the lulling of stupefaction, it has a reason and a groundwork. It is peace with God through the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within, and peace in believing where the mind is stayed upon Him because it trusts in Him. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, peace, peace, as the prophet saith. This is the peace which Jesus calls My peace, not as the world giveth, but His own calm, profound and unruffled peace, which can keep the heart quiet even when sorrows are surging round and outward sounds still trouble the ear.

Fits of anger arise from an unquiet heart within, and the Christian's walk ought to be calm, peaceful, quiet and unruffled, leaving everything with the Lord and waiting His will. This quietness is not wrought by our own resolve, but by the Spirit of God subduing self and bringing us low before the cross, where we see our need of Christ and find forgiveness. Seek then first Christ Himself, and peace will come next, for there is no peace worthy of the name to be found in any other way.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, we ask Thee to look upon this Thy child who longs for quietness and for deliverance. Grant relief from those sounds of music which disturb and weary, and if it be Thy will remove them, or grant grace to rise above them into that inward stillness where the soul muses upon Thee. Subdue all fits of anger by Thy Holy Spirit, give self command and deep restfulness of spirit, and let the peace that passeth all understanding keep the heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Wash away sin by the blood of atonement, and let perfect peace reign within, that though outward noise may remain for a season, on Jesus bosom nothing but calm may be found. Keep this one in perfect peace, with mind stayed upon Thee, trusting in Thee, till joy overflows as an foretaste of Heaven. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
