Your prayer for the salvation of others is close to the heart of God, and it is good that you are bringing these people before Him. God desires that people be saved and come to know the truth, and He invites us to join Him in that work through prayer.

Scripture shows us how deeply God has already acted to make salvation possible. He did not hold back His own Son but gave Him for us while we were still sinners. The name Jesus itself means the Lord is salvation, for He came to save His people from their sins. On the cross He bore our guilt and paid the full price, so that sin which stained us could be washed clean. His grace that brings salvation has appeared to all, and He tasted death for everyone so that many sons and daughters could be brought to glory. When you pray for this person you mentioned and for the others in her life and in your own life, you are asking for what God has already shown He loves to give.

You can also take comfort in how God helps you to pray. We often do not know how to pray as we should, and the Holy Spirit helps our weakness by interceding for us according to the will of God. Even when your prayer is simple and you can only say, save them if they need salvation, the Spirit who searches the heart carries that groaning to the Father in line with His perfect will. And beyond that, Jesus Himself lives to intercede for us. As the prophet said He would intercede for transgressors, He now stands at the right hand of the Father praying for us. Just as Paul pleaded that Onesimus would be received no longer as a guilty servant but as a beloved brother, Jesus pleads that those who trust in Him would be received no longer as sinners but as washed and cleansed children who share in His eternal kingdom. He is able to save completely because He always lives to make that intercession.

God hears that kind of prayer, and if He has already given His Son, how much more will He freely give all that is needed to answer according to His love and mercy. The Bible urges us not to put off responding to Him, for now is the accepted time and today is the day of salvation. So continue to pray with hope, and also be ready to speak gently of what Christ has done when God opens the door. You can trust the Father's kindness toward you as you wait on Him, knowing He deals with us in merciful kindness and teaches us His way.

May the Lord draw each one you have lifted up to Himself, open their eyes to see their need and to see the love shown at the cross, and bring them to faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. May He also give you peace as you entrust them to the great High Priest who intercedes for you and for them, and to the Spirit who helps you pray. In Jesus name, amen.
