We join you in this humble prayer for forgiveness and deliverance and we thank you for coming before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we are saved and have access to God. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 and Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13.
We hear your heart crying out to be free from anger, from the desire to fight back, and from all negativity including negative songs, and God hears you too. He is faithful to forgive when we come to Him with a repentant heart. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. He has removed our transgressions from us as far as the east is from the west Psalm 103:12 and He desires to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you Psalm 51:10.
The desire to not get angry or fight back is pleasing to God, for His word teaches us Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. We are called to be slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger Proverbs 15:1. When we are wronged, we are not to avenge ourselves but to leave room for God’s justice, for Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19 and we are taught not to return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead to bless 1 Peter 3:9.
To not know the word fight in the way you mean, to be delivered from strife and quarreling, is to pursue the peace that Christ gives. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God Matthew 5:9. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and that self-control is fruit of His Spirit within us Galatians 5:22-23.
We also understand your desire to be delivered from all negativity and negative songs. What we allow into our minds and hearts through music and media shapes our thoughts. We are instructed, Whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8. We are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to be transformed by the renewing of our mind Romans 12:2. Instead of songs that breed negativity, anger, or darkness, we are encouraged to speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord Ephesians 5:19 and to set no worthless thing before our eyes Psalm 101:3.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness. We ask You to forgive our dear one for all sins and to cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within them. Lord, deliver them from the spirit of anger and the impulse to fight back. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and teach them to answer gently, to be quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to anger. Help them to release every hurt to You and to trust Your justice and Your love. Deliver them from all negativity, from every dark and anxious thought, and guard their mind in Christ Jesus. Give them discernment to turn away from negative songs and influences that do not honor You, and instead fill their heart with songs and thoughts that are pure and lovely and praiseworthy. Help them to fix their mind on You and to walk in love, power and self-control by Your Holy Spirit. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring every moment of temptation to anger to the Lord in prayer immediately, to memorize scripture that you can recall when anger rises, and to intentionally choose music and media that edifies your spirit and draws you closer to Christ. As you abide in Him, He will keep you in perfect peace.
