Beloved of All
Your honest prayer for a healed heart and for deliverance from anger and negativity is precious to God, and He hears it. The Lord is near to those who are brokenhearted and saves those who have a contrite spirit, and when you pour out your grief and pain to Him, He draws close.
What you are asking for is the very work that only God can do inside a person. His promise is to give a new heart, to do an inward work of cleansing and renewal, to cut away the fleshly desires that lead us away from Him so that we can love Him and walk with Him with all our heart and soul. You cannot create that new heart for yourself, but He can, by His Spirit working within you.
The fact that you desire healing and freedom is itself a sign of His work. Scripture teaches that it is God who works in you both to will and to do what pleases Him. He plants His desires in the heart of His children and then He gives the ability to carry them out. When you delight yourself in the Lord, He shapes the desires of your heart to match His will, so that your joy becomes doing what pleases Him. That yearning you feel to be free from anger is God stirring your heart toward what He wants to do for you.
Concerning anger, the Bible makes a distinction that is helpful. There is an anger that is not sinful, an anger at sin and unrighteousness and evil, such as Jesus showed when He saw hardness of heart that kept people from receiving God's mercy. But there is also the anger that grieves the Holy Spirit, along with bitterness and wrath and clamor and evil speaking and malice. We are told to put those things away from us, to be angry and yet not sin, and not to let the sun go down on our wrath. God wants to help us be slow to anger, to have a steady and gentle spirit that calms strife rather than stirs it, and to have a merry heart that brings a cheerful countenance and makes life like a continual feast even in difficult days.
So bring your heart to Him daily and ask Him to do what you cannot do. Pray that He would circumcise your heart, wash away bitterness and negativity, and fill you with His love and peace. He who has begun this good desire in you will be faithful to complete it and to give you the power to walk in it.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I lift up this dear one to You. You see this heart that longs for healing. Touch and heal the wounds within, take away anger and every form of negativity, and cleanse from bitterness and wrath. Give a new heart that desires You, that delights to do Your will. Work within to both will and do Your good pleasure, and grant a calm, patient, and joyful spirit. Let Your peace guard this heart and mind, and let Your Spirit bring wholeness and freedom. Amen.
