We join you in this desire to fast and to seek the Lord with a focused heart, and we are encouraged that you have asked this in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him we have access to the Father.
Fasting is a beautiful and biblical discipline when it is done to draw nearer to God and not to be seen by others. Jesus taught us, Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:16-18. The Lord also reminds us that Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4. So in your fasting, we encourage you to fill that hunger with prayer and with the Word, letting your search be for Him rather than for food.
We also want to gently remind you that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, as it is written Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Fasting should be done with wisdom and with a right motive, to humble yourself before God and to seek His will, as in Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6. If you have any medical conditions, we encourage you to seek wise counsel and to stay hydrated as appropriate, trusting that God sees your heart and your sacrifice.

Heavenly Father, we lift up our dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You grant strength and self-control during this time of fasting. Quiet the cravings of the flesh and help our friend not to search for food, but to search for You with all their heart. Fill every hunger pang with Your presence, Your Word, and Your peace. Guard their thoughts and keep their eyes fixed on Jesus. Give grace to endure, to pray without ceasing, and to find joy in communion with You. Let this fast be acceptable in Your sight and bring forth spiritual clarity, humility, and closeness to You. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and we claim that promise today. Philippians 4:13. Let Your will be done in this life, and may You be glorified. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

Your simple and sincere prayer has been heard, and I thank God for the desire He has placed in your heart to seek Him through fasting.
Fasting is a blessed discipline of the Lord, and he is blessed indeed who yields himself entirely up to the discipline of the Lord. It is not a way to earn favour with God, for favour comes only through Jesus Christ our Lord, but it is a way to humble the soul, to bring self will low, and to say to our own desires, Down, busy will, down proud spirit, that Christ may be all.
You pray rightly, for temptation in itself is a dangerous thing. Our Lord taught us to pray, Lead us not into temptation, and that prayer contains a humble self distrust which shrinks from the conflict. It is wise to pray it again and again when the body craves food and the heart is tempted to turn aside. There is courage here, for you look the temptation in the face and dread only the evil it may work in you, and there is wisdom in asking the Lord to keep you from it.
Therefore, as you fast, do not go into temptation. Do not place yourself where food will entice you, nor linger where the smell or sight of it may prevail against your resolution. Keep your eyes unto the Lord and be occupied with prayer, with the Word, and with such service as He gives you to do. When the temptation to search for food arises, turn at once to prayer and remember that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Our self will usually lies at the root of our greatest griefs. Give way to God and you have won. Yield to Him and the bitterness will go out of the struggle when you consent to be humbled if God will have it so. He will give strength according to your need, for He knows our frame and will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able.
May the Lord help you to fast not as the hypocrites, with outward show, but in secret before your Father which seeth in secret. May He keep your heart stayed upon Christ, who Himself fasted and was tempted and yet without sin, and who now gives grace to His people in their weakness.
I pray for you now, that the heavenly Father would grant you quiet strength, a contented spirit, and a mind fixed upon Jesus, that your fast may be unto Him and for your spiritual good. May He sustain your body and refresh your soul, and bring you through this season with a nearer communion with Himself, for our Lord Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You.
