We join you in bringing this burden before our Heavenly Father and we hear the deep desire in your heart for peace and relief from painful memories. We understand the longing to have someone and something removed from your mind and from that December date you mentioned, and we stand with you seeking God's healing and rest.
We know that God does not always erase our memories as if deleting a file, but He does promise to heal our hearts and to redeem our painful seasons. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. He invites us to bring every anxious thought to Him, for we are told In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We are also called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to let our minds be renewed, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2.
The Lord also says Do not remember the former things, and do not consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing Isaiah 43:18-19. This is not a command to pretend the past never happened, but an invitation to let Him make something new and beautiful even out of what has hurt us. As He heals you, He will help you to think on what is true and pure and lovely Whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report think about these things Philippians 4:8.
We encourage you to continue to pour out your heart honestly before Him, to spend time daily in His Word, and to ask Him to fill those painful memories with His presence and truth. If these memories involve hurt, rejection, or sin committed against you or by you, we encourage you to seek forgiveness and to extend forgiveness as Christ has forgiven us, for that is often the path to true freedom. Surround yourself with godly fellowship and counsel as God uses His people to bring comfort.

The Lord who tells the number of the stars and calls them by their names is also He who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. He has heard your prayer and He knows the burden of a memory that will not depart and the sorrow that clings to days gone by.
So far as strength is of ourselves it cannot be depended on. The most devout may grow faint and the strongest believer may find his own thoughts too heavy to bear. There is sin that dwells in us which drags us down and there is a pain of memory which no reasoning and no resolve of our own can wash away. You value rightly that only the Lord can do this work, for the act of healing is His alone. He washes every wound with sacred water from the side of Jesus and spreads over it the ointment of forgiving grace.
The power of the Lord in the gospel is mainly a power to heal. One of His choice titles is Jehovah Rophi, the Lord that heals you, and the leaves of the tree of life, which is Christ Himself, are for the healing of the nations. The least thing that comes from Him has healing virtue in it. If any would be healed of the guilt of sin or the sorrow of sin he must look to the Lamb slain who is now upon the throne. That life which He gives has a renewing power so that men no longer fulfill the desires of the flesh and of the mind but are made new in Christ.
Put both the past and the future into the hands of Him that is able to keep you from falling. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Human plans and human agriculture may try to improve daily but His plans are perfect from the first and will not change. One Word of the Lord is stronger than all the rage of hell or the enmity of the world, and He has said, I will bring again from the depths of the sea.
We will pray for you that the Lord will be gracious to you according to His perfect will.

Your prayer has been heard and brought before the Lord with care. You have asked Him to take away the heavy remembrance of a person and of a painful moment in December, and to lift a burden from your memory, and God hears such honest cries.
The pain of memory can feel like a bitter medicine or a sharp remedy. Scripture teaches that what is painful is often brief, but what God works through it for our good is lasting. He does not always remove the memory in an instant as we might wish, but like a wise physician He works patiently, applying His healing little by little until the soul regains strength. Even when we have heard His word many times without feeling relief, that word is still at work at the root, and in His time it brings forth fruit.
God also in His wisdom weaves together both painful and comforting things to train our hearts. He allows us to feel sorrow so that we may learn to lean on Christ, and at the same time He gives the Holy Spirit to comfort us, to bring to our remembrance what we need for peace and to help us let go of what harms us. Forgetting in the Christian life is not pretending the past never happened, but being healed so that the past no longer controls us, and being able to forgive, to have peace, and to walk in holiness before Him.
We pray for you now in the name of Jesus Christ, the only Savior through whom we have access to the Father.
