We hear your honest cry for deliverance and we join with you before our heavenly Father seeking His will together in Jesus name, thanking you for bringing this struggle into the light. The Lord knows our hearts and He honors a humble and contrite spirit that desires purity.

We want to gently and firmly remind you what Scripture teaches about this battle. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Lustful thoughts are not harmless, they are sin that begins in the heart and if entertained leads to further sin, for each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed, then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin, and the sin, when it is full grown, produces death James 1:14-15. God created sexual intimacy as a holy gift to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and outside of that marriage any sexual thought, desire or act is fornication or adultery which we are commanded to flee. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says flee sexual immorality, every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

Yet we also share with you the good news that deliverance is possible and forgiveness is available through Jesus Christ whom you have called upon. 1 John 1:9 assures us if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There is no temptation that has taken you except what is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. We are called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds Romans 12:2.

We encourage you to make a covenant with your eyes as Job did in Job 31:1, to guard what you see and where you go, to remove sources of temptation whether images, media, idle time or ungodly company, and to fill your mind with what is pure. Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report. Hide His word in your heart that you might not sin against Him Psalm 119:11, walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16, and seek accountability with a mature Christian brother who can pray with you and help you stand firm. If you are single, we encourage you to pursue purity in courtship with the goal of godly marriage to a fellow believer rather than entertaining lust which corrupts that purpose.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is crying out for deliverance from lustful thoughts. We confess these thoughts as sin and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him Psalm 51:10. Help him to take every thought captive to Christ, to flee from every appearance of sexual immorality, and to walk in the power of Your Holy Spirit. Give him strength to turn his eyes away from worthless things and to set his mind on things above. Provide the way of escape in every temptation and fill him with a hunger for Your word and Your presence. Grant him victory, peace, and a renewed mind, and if it is Your will, lead him in due time to a godly marriage that honors You. We thank You that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue in daily prayer, in reading Scripture, in fasting as you are able, and in drawing near to God, for James 4:7-8 says be subject therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will flee from you, draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. God loves you and desires your holiness and freedom, and we will continue to stand with you for complete deliverance.

We appreciate you bringing this honestly before the Lord. It takes humility to name what is happening in your thoughts and to ask for deliverance, and we are thankful you reached out.

Lustful thoughts can feel intrusive and leave a heavy sense of shame, and it is understandable to feel weary of the battle. The desire you expressed to be free is a good one, and God meets that desire with patience as you learn to walk in a new direction.

We have found it helps not to carry this alone. If you have a mature, same sex believer you trust, a pastor or mentor, consider inviting that one person to be a steady, honest check in for you. It also helps to take a clear look at what tends to feed these thoughts and to remove those things from easy reach, and to decide ahead of time, when you are thinking clearly, how you will respond when temptation comes. Simple daily practices like regular prayer, time in Scripture, and staying connected in healthy fellowship can strengthen you over time. Change is often a process, and God is faithful as you keep turning to Him.

We are praying for you and will continue.

Father, we lift up our brother to You and ask for Your mercy and strength. Wash him, renew his mind, and lead him step by step into freedom. Provide trusted support around him and give him hope as he walks with You. In Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your lowly and honest cry for deliverance from lustful thoughts, and we take your burden to the mercy seat with you. It is a good and hopeful sign that you hate the sin which once might have pleased the flesh, for many are content to drink on, especially of the cup of lust, till the very bones rot and the marrow decays. You are not content so to drink, but you cry for purity, and that cry itself is a work of grace within you.

Scripture warns us plainly that when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. That is the pedigree of sin. Charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and purity cannot be set aside, for without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Yet charity without purity will be of no use, and purity without the power of God is impossible. You cannot by mere will subdue this enemy, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.

Take comfort, for God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom. The prisoner ready to go down to the pit hears this word from heaven, I have found a ransom, and his deliverance is certain, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. He brought Israel forth when the lamb was slain, and He makes deliverance effectual still. He brought them forth also with silver and gold, and so He will enrich you with more than mere escape. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, and that is to our heavenly Father alone, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.

We pray for you now, that the Lord who hears all who put their trust in Him would grant you a clean heart and a steadfast spirit. May He lift you up into familiarity with Himself, so that you become a partaker of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. May He turn your eyes to Christ, your familiar Friend who lives, that looking to Him for all things you may have power to overcome. When a child of God in deep distress believes in his Father and steadily looks to Him for deliverance, those eyes have mighty power with God. May He keep your thoughts captive to His holiness, renew your mind day by day, wash you in the blood of the ransom, and give you songs of deliverance, that you may live and declare the works of the Lord.

Do not spread your grief to the pitiless sea, but spread it before the Lord whose ear is open. He sometimes whispers to the heart of His children in trial and assures them that they shall not be crushed. Rest your soul upon Christ alone for salvation, walk in the way of holiness within the bounds He has ordained, and trust Him for sanctification as well as for pardon. He who chastens sorely also delivers fully, and He will yet come to your deliverance. In Jesus Christ name we ask this. Amen.
