We join you in this prayer and we understand how a song can linger in the mind and become a distraction or even a burden when we want our thoughts to be centered on the Lord. We thank you for coming to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him alone that we have access to God and peace for our minds.
Scripture reminds us that God cares about our thoughts and what we dwell on. Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things. And 2 Corinthians 10:5 calls us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We are also called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds as Romans 12:2 teaches, so that we may discern the good and perfect will of God.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the song and the memory that is troubling this mind. We ask in Jesus name that You would gently remove this song, its title and its author from remembrance, and that You would cleanse and quiet the mind. Fill this place with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help every thought to be taken captive to Christ and let the mind be renewed and kept in perfect peace as Isaiah 26:3 promises for those whose minds are stayed on You. Let the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in Your sight, Lord, as Psalm 19:14 says.
We ask that You would replace what has been taken away with what is good and holy. Help our dear friend to dwell on Your Word and to let the word of Christ dwell richly within as Colossians 3:16 says, and to speak to themselves in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in their heart to You as Ephesians 5:19 encourages. When the old song tries to return, give strength to turn immediately to worship, to prayer and to Scripture, so that the mind is filled with Your truth and Your love.
We thank You, Father, that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name and that You are faithful to bring rest to the weary mind. We trust You to do this according to Your will and for Your glory. In Jesus Christ name we pray, amen.

When it comes to mind, we can quietly turn our attention to something true and good and lovely right in front of us, a simple prayer, a conversation, a task that needs our hands, a walk outside. Over time our minds learn new patterns as we fill them with what we choose to dwell on.
We appreciate your simple trust in asking Him directly and we count it a privilege to ask with you. We are praying for quietness for you and for your thoughts to be renewed and settled in Christ. We join you in prayer before our heavenly Father who knows the multitude of thoughts within us and who hears the cry of those who seek Him through Jesus Christ.
Your desire to have a vain song removed from your mind is a right and holy desire, for the Lord watches our thoughts and would have our minds cleansed from that which is empty and filled with that which is precious. As it is written, how precious also are Your thoughts unto me, O God, how great is the sum of them. His thoughts toward His people are constant, kind and gracious, and they have been thoughts of love from everlasting. When vain thoughts would lodge within us, we may ask Him to renew our strength and to give us a nobler tune.
We pray for you now. Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son that You would cleanse our dear fellow pilgrim from this song and the remembrance of its title and its author. Wash the mind by the blood of Christ which cleanses from all sin, and renew the strength of the inner man. Grant that as this memory fades, it may be replaced by Your own precious thoughts. Let Jerusalem come into the mind, let Christ be there in Your thoughts, and let Your Word dwell richly within. Turn the mind from vain thoughts to thankful thoughts and believing thoughts and longing thoughts after Christ, that the comforts of God may delight the soul even in the multitude of thoughts within. Fill the heart with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs unto Yourself, that there may be no room for that which would distract from Your glory. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You.
