Your simple and honest prayer has been heard, and it is good to bring even this desire before the Lord, for He cares about the details of your life.
Scripture has a great deal to say about songs. Solomon wrote more than a thousand songs, yet one is called the Song of Songs because he considered it the finest of them all. It is a song of love, and while it can be read as a love song between a husband and wife, it also beautifully pictures the loving relationship between Christ and His people, His bride. That reminds us that the truest and most lasting songs are those that speak of love, and especially of His love for us.
We also read that God had Moses write a song and teach it to the people of Israel so they would remember it. A song stays in the heart and mind in a way that other words often do not, and later it can serve as a reminder of truth. In the same way, a tune you heard can stay with you and stir your heart even when you cannot name it.
The Bible also says that God gives songs in the night. When trouble or sleeplessness comes, He can command His loving kindness in the day and give a song to comfort us at night, a song of worship and thanksgiving that carries us through. And in Revelation we learn of new songs. There is a new song of redemption that only those redeemed by the blood of Jesus can sing, and there is a special song given to a particular group that no one else can learn, because each one relates to the Lord in a unique way. This shows that God values music and gives each of His children their own song before Him.
Your wish to remember the title of a tune is not too small for Him. I pray that the Lord will graciously bring it to your mind if it will be a blessing to you, or give you peace if it remains unknown, and that He will use even this small search to draw you closer to Himself.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. You know the tune that is on their heart and the desire to know its name. We ask that You would grant clarity and help them recall what they seek, and if not, fill that place with Your own song. Let them know Your loving kindness by day and Your song by night, and draw them into a deeper love for Jesus, in whom we have redemption and a new song.
